This is not a hotel that will blow your mind. But then again, for the price you are paying to sleep there, you probably shouldn't expect it either.
It is an average Premier Inn, as standard as they get.
It looks quite clean on the surface but on closer inspection, we couldn't find a single pillowcase without at least one small stain on it, the toilet seat was yellow on the inside etc.

However, as soon as you walk through the door you are met with the friendliest smile I saw in a receptionist in a long time, with unbelieveably friendly, helpful and pleasant staff that more than makes up for it.
These people will literally bend over backwards to make customers happy and they'll do it with a smile. They are all so enthusiastic, friendly and helpful that they immediately make you feel better if you've had a totally rubbish journey there and are exhausted.
I have never experienced such fantastic service, not in Premier Inns, B&B, private rentals or 5 star hotes I stayed in.

So you don't really care about the odd spec on your pillow. I even felt sorry we told the receptionist about it as she seemed so genuinely upset.

We had breakfast there too and again, were met with huge, wide smiles from staff that were all too keen to help. The food served was very good, timely, well cooked and it's an "all you can eat" breakfast so you order as much as you like.

All in all; a hotel like many others with staff you won't find anywhere else.

Ignore the lorries parked near the hotel car park entrance! I was shocked to see them and thought we'd made a mistake and stayed at the Royal instead. The hotel staff gave us a lovely warm welcome after our dreadful journey in the heavy rain and they don't like the lorry park either!.
The hotel is much what you'd expect of a Premier Inn, although this one did feel a bit more basic to be honest. There was no heating in the shower room (no bath) and the room heater was governed to not exceed 23 degrees, which when there was snow and sleet outside did feel a tad chilly. However, obviously Whitbread want you to spend time in the bar and not the room.
The receptionists and room cleaners all had a friendly smile and manner and this made up for any short-comings. The hotel entrance was blocked off due to slates coming off the roof and awaiting repair, which meant we had to walk through the bar/restaurant to get in or out but that wasn't a major problem.
Judging by what was said by locals we met in the Plough pub (would recommend pub ambience and beer) in Ashby town, the locals feel Ashby doesn't have a decent hotel at all.

Room Tip: We had room 18, which looked out onto a small field with the main road beyond a hedge, and you could...

Im not going to lie. I have stayed in a few prem inns in my time. However I have really enjoyed my time at the premier inn ashby de la zouch. This is due entirely to the fantastic service recived from the staff there. The negatives mainly include the old style t.v's in the old section of the hotel (however this is not a problem in the new section ) the huge pro's are the service from such staff like john (the night porter) who will go the extra mile to help and megan the receptionist who is by far the most friendliest and out going receptionist I have come across. This along with the great food and service you can get at the a joining restaurant , it just makes for a goog stay .well done premier inn

Just stayed at this Hotel with my son on our way to Autosport Motorshow at The NEC . What a gem! The staff were very helpful & so pleasant , from the young girl on reception on arrival & the restaurant staff on the Friday night through to the Manageress & her staff at breakfast on the Saturday morning , never stopped smiling and made our stay an absolute pleasure. We'll done to everyone & I look forward to using Premier inn again next month at Newcastle airport.

A very pleasant experience - all boxes ticked especially for the staff both at the hotel and restaurant for breakfast in the morning, making it highly likely for a return visit when in the area again.

I spent a considerable amount of time here in November and December 2013 on business and for that I'd like to apologies to both the staff and guests of this lovely hotel.

I figured I got to know most of them quite well throughout this time, and by the end of the 2 months I felt like part of the family. The staff are absolutely fantastic. All of them. John the night porter was amazing and always brought a smile to my face.

I stayed in several rooms during this time. Sometimes a bit hit and miss but almost always a hit. I'm very particular in a new bed and always struggle on the first nights sleep, but that's me. That's not the hotels fault. The only issue I had was with one room, who's tap and shower faucet ran at the same time during the shower. So it was a choice of either bath, or bath/shower. I'm sure they'll sort this by the time I get back, which I will happily do so soon.

Keep up the good work everyone.

Room Tip: If you sleep soundly, ask for a room above the Brewers Fayre. You'll see
