“New Wetherspoons, very nice”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 20, 2013

This is a new Wetherspoons and just what the doctor ordered, it is smart, with pleasant seating areas and booths as well as an outdoor area for the nicer weather, the food was typically Wetherspoons, In my opinion well cooked and presented and exceptionally good value. A large selection of real ales as well as the usual suspects were served in a polite professional manner and although untypically quiet (about 2.30pm) the tables were cleared and cleaned efficiently. Will definately be visiting this house again and NOT just because it is local.

“Good value for money breakfast”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 8, 2013

At the time of writing this is still relatively new and the décor is very good, clean and fresh with good character. None of the tables are on top of each other and there is a nice outside seating area with fake grass.

It is right in the town centre so the view is not beautiful but they have made the best of what they have.

No parking but there is a co-op next door that had free 2hr parking for co-op customers so we popped in and got a couple of bits we needed on the way out.

Went in for breakfast as we know they are good value for money £4.60 for a huge breakfast, lots of different options including vegetarian and lower calorie choices.

The service was good, the staff friendly and the food was the same standard as any other Wetherspoon we have eaten in with a food hygiene 5 rating.

“Well, you know what you're gonna get...”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 4, 2013

Good staff, good drinks, good prices, nice decor, obvious criticism is the sense of deja vous.... Excellent outdoor area - considering it has a view of a main road and the Co-op, it really couldn't be any better!!!

“Poor Staff”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 3, 2013 via mobile

I think the majority of the staff need to realise that manners would be appreciated once in a while. Service with a smile obviously isn't the policy here as agreed by a number of people. The odd waitress is polite and friendly but they will soon lose custom when people stick to going to the pubs where they aren't greeted with attitude!

“It's a Wetherspoon's...”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 3, 2013

...so you get what you'd expect.

The Shoulder of Mutton reopened in late October after a long closure, and a significant rebuild. The transformation is excellent, with a large new room at the rear that is very pleasant, and a new beer garden (with plastic grass, but at least it's green!).

It is, of course, a Wetherspoon's, which explains some of the odder reviews. Yes, you order food at the bar. Yes, the menu is long, and the food is OK rather than excellent. But it isn't bad at all.

3 * generally, upped to 4 * for newness...

Positive:
Brand new
Comfortable and pleasant interior
Beer garden promises to be great in the summer

Negatives:
If you find Wetherspoon's a bit samey this won't change your mind
