“Hotel good, area not so....”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 29, 2011

Stopped for 1 night to get out of the snow.....Everything up to the usual Hampton standard, but the surrounding area was a little depresssing, sorry Akron residents if I have misjudged you! An excellent nights sleep in a clean and tidy room, with a good "free" breakfast to follow.

We stayed here for 2 nights recently and were very pleased. Our room looked nice and was very clean. The continental breakfast was good, with a lot of options. All employees we spoke to were friendly and helpful.

My husband and I were on are way back from a trip to Florida. We were 30 minutes from home but it was 3am in the morning, and thought it would be safer for us to just get a room. S we stopped at the Hampton Inn. The doors were locked and when the woman behind the disk came to open it she said the price for the rooms, like we couldn't afford it. She didn't even bother opening the doors. So we stayed at the Red Roof Inn and was welcomed with open arms. PS We make 300,000 a year between the both of us......! :)

Although we only stayed one night, wish that we could have stayed longer for the rest of our stay in Ohio. The room was delightful, with new furniture & very comfortable beds. The breakfast was better than expected as I was only expecting continental but ended up with scrambled eggs as well. The front desk was very friendly & helpful & helped us find directions to where we needed to go. A delightful experience!

Off to Montrose area of Akron and another Hampton Inn. Also very welcoming gentleman at front desk. He had the 3rd floor room with extra corner windows overlooks a long street with companies, restaurants and hotels. A pool with hot tub invited us down. It look newly renovated with bright colors in carpeting. So we are changing into swimwear as the door opens and closes with a scream. A gal came to give us our HH reward of 2 bottles of water and 2 bags of nacho chips. A we passed the desk, a lady is apologizing for not knocking, but she did not know we were there. Her Manager, who we met at check-in also is apologizing
for not telling her we were there. We told them both it was a laugh took the gift he had for us.
Then the pool, a warm humid room with a heated pool and as we are doing laps, a little girl with her kick board & ball to play in the water shows up. SO we got out & got in the hot tub. But it has hardly any massage to it but plenty of hot water to lay back in. The manager happened to come in, see the young girl with mom using the treadmill but she shoule be with her daughter. So she came in & sat at the pool with no suit. We left since we are relaxed & slept very well in a quiet floor. Breakfast at the buffet has steak and eggs, Belgium waffles, muffins, danish, breads, and was nicely set up. Very clean room, tables, chairs, counters.

Room Tip: If you are GOLD or Diamond, be ready for great service for a Hampton Inn, which usually gets pretty...

We were attending a family funeral and selected this hotel for its proximity to the funeral home and our relatives home. Our reservations were made online as Hilton Honors members with our preferences indicated in our HH profile, "top floor, away from elevators". When we checked into the 3-story hotel, we were given a room on the second floor, but it was away from the elevator. The first night, the people above us must have been doing jumping jacks or something off and on until about 2 a.m.! Now back to the elevators....we spent quite a bit of time waiting on the elevator and hoping not to get stuck, as they were having some issues with it, though the elevator repairman was on site working on it, we weren't sure we'd make it to the next floor. On our second morning, we had no newspaper....and when we went down for coffee....no half and half.....they ran out! What!?!?! When my husband asked about the half and half, the young lady at the breakfast area just sort of shrugged it off. When I mentioned it to the desk clerk when we checked out, the response to the newspaper missing was that you had to be a certain HH level (we are Silver) to get a paper, I said well we had a paper yesterday, but none today, and we are at the Silver level. I mentioned the elevator, and the response was they'd been having trouble with it, as for the half and half the response was "yeah, I know"!
Not the best stay we've had at a Hampton, and certainly not worth the 25,000 points per night that we decided to use!

Room Tip: Well, I thought HH profile was the best, but, as usual, I don't think they even look at that inf...
