“Amazing”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 10, 2014

I love food and love watching foodie programmes on TV. I have always wanted to experience a Michelin starred restaurant and although our budget is limited my lovely husband treated me to lunch at Northcote Manor today for my Christmas and Birthday present. I am blown away, the atmosphere, the food, the staff and the service were amazing thank you so much for a truly unforgettable experience. Saving up for the next time xxx

“New Years Day Dinner”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 9, 2014

A group of us had the set meal on new years day, and it was delicious! Loved the banana cheesecake dessert particularly. Plenty of champagne was flowing and lovely canapés!

The new décor is fabulous, it is very different to the previous décor, but I do feel it is a huge improvement, The contemporary styling is entirely appropriate for the surroundings and compliment the building without clashing,

I have always visited Northcote for the food, as it really is a treat. However , Its the ambience and service that keep me coming back for special occasions. The staff really are fabulous, they are so polite and welcoming and create a lovely atmosphere to enjoy a relaxing evening.

“disappointment”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed December 29, 2013

We visited in the late summer for sunday lunch- we had seen the reviews and were quite looking forward to the experience . Yes, the hotel / restaurant is in a state of flux because of the alterationos but we watched food transported from a marquee attached to the restaurant - sometimes thru the rain - to the dining room and bar area.
The nibbles were nice enough with a truffled mousse and bits to dip in it
For starters we had a mixture of duck mousse and duck pieces covered with a blackcurrant topping - it was unpleasant and left a bad after-taste.
The cauliflower soup had no discenible cauliflower taste and was so-so.
The roast beef was fatty, the gravy was unpleasant, the accompaniments were pub standard.
The desert was unremarkable, a cheesecake of some sorts.
On the menu, coffee and eccles cake appeared to be inclusive of the menu price - on the bill it wasn't.
The staff were nice and polite
The 10% sevice charge was an unannounced surprise but we didn't have the heart to contest it,
Heaven knows this is supposed to be one of the top restaurants in the north west but sadly it needs to shift up several notches. The jury will have to wait but on this visit it wasn't exactly a hanging offence but it might be a case for probation

Dear Guest,

Im so sorry to hear of your disappointment in your most recent visit to us back in September.

I can confirm that the temporary kitchen that you mention in your review has now gone, and we are now working out of our State of the Art New kitchens.

I would ask you to kindly email me on guestrelations@northcote.com so that we can discuss your points in a little more detail and ensure that the points you raise do not happy again.

Kind Regards

Craig

“Relying in chips for a decent meal”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed December 25, 2013

Random and slow service followed by a laughably small meal. One prawn served with a tiny portion of fish.

Grossly overrated so save your money.
