I would never recommend anyone to stay at this hotel. Our room had a blue carpeted bathroom which smelt damp, the wallpaper was peeling and the overall look was extremely dated. There was a hole in the bathroom wall and the cold tap excreted some black liquid when we tried to turn it on and then eventually stopped working. We had to use the bath taps to clean our teeth.
The bedroom was small and pokey, with the same carpets from the bathroom. The decor was also very dated and they had some old lady teapots as centre pieces along with a cheap 10p basket with pot pourri, which was so old, it didn't even smell of perfume, so it was just an additional dust collector.
We had a meal in the restaurant, which was yummy, but just ridiculous amounts of food. If they served less food, they might be able to use some of the spare cash to refurbish their disgraceful rooms.
I don't know who on earth rated them as 4*, but they need their head checking.
The following day we ordered lunch to our room, a prawn cocktail, which was also nice. However, the tray sat in the corridor until the following day. Considering the hotel has 9 rooms upstairs and I think 1 or 2 disabled rooms downstairs....I would have expected someone to move it and refused to take it downstairs myself. Someone in the room further down must have tripped on the tray that night, as there was a strong smell of vinegar in the corridor .
The manager was as horrible as her rooms she had to offer. On our departure we were not asked if we enjoyed our stay. No doubt she sensed our utter disgust.
My husband settled the bill and I simply could not wait to leave.
What a waste of money, when on reflection we could have stay in a holiday inn for 45 pounds b and b and just got a taxi for £12. The rooms would have been a thousand times better.
I feel utterly ripped off and will NEVER recommend them, even if they refurbished, just because the staff are so rude.
I've stayed in nicer hostels for 15 quid a night, with breakfast included. Rip off hotel!
