“A pleasant stay, but hotel is a little tired, in need of a little TLC.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 1, 2013 via mobile

I stayed just one night, having been grateful to find a reasonably priced room via Latebookers within easy reach of Charnock Richard Services. When I called for directions the nighr manager had to b3 persuaded to provide these as details of the booking had not yet been received. Hmm! Not a great welcome, however resolved on arrival. Next, the room was freezing and the heater did not work, so the manager find a replacement from a spare room. Also clean, one of the pillow cases had s5ains on. A little off putting, but with 3 others to use that wasn't a problem. The TV was VERY small and could barely be seen across the room. Overall the decor and condition of the room was clean but run down. A plus point was the excellent cookes breakfast which went down very well. I would say about 6/10, but good value for money via Latebookers.

My husband and I held our wedding reception at the Mill hotel in September. From the start Debbie did her upmost to make sure our day was perfect. We had actually got married in secret the day before the reception so we also had a family meal in the barn on our actual wedding day, which was decorated and all laid out lovely, we just thought we were having a standard meal, but Debbie and staff had gone the extra mile to make it special for us. On the Saturday as my husband went off to make the final arrangements for the afternoon the staff helped me switch rooms to the bridal suit which was amazing and Debbie even helped me dress the room. She was on hand greeting the guests directing them to their seats, who were oblivious to the fact we had already got married and she helped organise the surprise slide show in the barn set up as a wedding ceremony to surprise our guests. During the reception staff were attentive and any little problem was sorted out before my husband or I knew about it. Debbie also made sure my two daughters were OK throughout the reception and all evening, by the next morning they were calling her auntie Debbie. I didn't go into the bar after the reception but my husband did and had a great time with the guests who were staying over. Debbie did have a drink with the guests and was in full party spirits and made sure no one wanted for anything. The staff even came up to my room to check I was OK and to ask if I needed anything, I asked for some water which was at my side in a flash.
I would definitely recommend this venue to hold your wedding or just wedding reception, the staff couldn't do enough for you. The lady who works during the day serving breakfast, I think she is Irish was so lovely and worth her weight in gold. A few guests including myself were a little hungover the following morning and anything we wanted was served to us immediately.
I can't understand why this hotel has had bad reviews, they must have just been there on the wrong weekend. All our guests really enjoyed the day or two days in some cases and one of our guests now wants to book for his wedding next year.

Room Tip: the bridal suit is just amazing if it's free book it!

I stayed at this hotel for just one night with my partner. The hotel was comfortable, clean and the staff were attentive. Yes, it was a bit dated in places but it adds some character I'd say! Unfortunately, to no fault of the staff, there were some very noisy and disruptive people staying a few doors down who woke us up during the night. The staff apologised in the morning and, a short time after, I received a letter offering another night's stay as compensation for the disturbance! We welcomed the offer and were put in one of the suites for the night! Great customer service and a pleasant second night's stay! Thank you, Mill Hotel.

We spent one night at The Mill on the outskirts of Croston after finding it in a search for "Pet Friendly Hotels in Lancashire" Some we rang did not in fact accept pets. The Mill does, at no extra charge but subject to conditions which are perfectly acceptable. We had a quiet night in a good bed with good en suite facilities. It was a very cold night but we had control over the heating so we were not inconvenienced. Our standard poodle enjoyed his stay, too. We asked for, and were given non-smoking rooms with no feather or down fillings which made a nice change since one of us is an allergen sufferer. (Poodles are virtually hypo-allergenic) We had full English breakfast included in the very reasonable price which was subject to good cancellation terms. The review would have been five star if not for the use of plug-in air fresheners which we dislike.

Room Tip: low numbered rooms are furthest from the function suites and have a separate entrance.

The staff were all most helpful though out the visit from the booking,to leaving. The bar was fully staffed so there was a quick turn round getting drinks. empty glasses were removed from the tables quickly by a girl. We were asked to go table by table for the buffet, so there wasn't a long wait at the buffet. We had an enjoyable visit

My fiance and I have just had the 'perfect weekend' at The Mill!

Our room was excellent value for money - we had paid a slight suppliment for an upgrade to a four poster room but were delighted to find that we had been given the bridal suite which was beautiful!

Our hosts were very welcoming and we enjoyed our first night having a great time with them in the comfortable bar area.

On our second night we ate in the restaurant and both the service and food were excellent!

Lynn then arrived for the karaoke night and she made everyone feel 'at home' and ecouraged people to sing if they wanted to without being 'pushy'!

Our hosts were again present and they acknowledged us but also respected our privacy and let us enjoy the night - BUT we were soon sat with them as they were such great fun and aa total joy to be with!

Members of staff CHOSE to stay even after their shifts had finished! (I can't remember ever WANTING to stay at work after hours!!!)

All in all an EXCELLENT weekend! We will certainly be visiting again very soon!

Thank you to EVERYONE at The Mill!

See you all soon
Alison and Paul (or Pawh as Debbie likes to call him!) :-) xxx
