Attended a small function in the Park Suite.
Initially, when we got the choice of menu, we were quite disappointed as there were only two choices of each course and the choices were not all that inspiring as it was.
Anyway, we arrived, the place looked OK, had a "bubbly" drink on arrival and quite a long wait before the food service started.
Starter for me was the tomato soup which was pretty nice really, obviously not a tin or packet and made from fresh ingredients or at least a decent bought-in "fresh soup"
A cold roll arrived so long before it that we'd all eaten the bread rolls by the time the soup arrived.
Main course was next and was a choice of salmon or chicken in a white wine & mushroom sauce. I have the chicken which was OK, quite tough but OK. Two roast potatoes, some shredded cabbage and 3 pieces of roast carrot were the veg and this is the thing that is really annoying. Everyone on our table said the meal was OK but short of a couple of potatoes. Why do restaurants skimp on veg when veg is so cheap? Doubling the veg on the plate would have given a much better appearance, satisfied everyone and cost a few pence at most to achieve.
What was even worse, the waiter serving the veg returned to the kitchen with some veg still left in his platter without offering what was left to people dining.
This was followed by a choice of a sickly sponge cake but I opted for the fresh fruit salad which was nice. Coffee & mints completed the meal.
The bar was expensive and I've mixed feelings about the DJ.
For a start, the evening was full of people who wanted to catch up and chat. His overall volume was far too loud and people ended up leaving the room to go into the hotel lobby to be able to hear each other speaking. His choice of music was poor at the beginning but did improve as the evening went on.
Would I go back? Well, I guess so but given the choice of many other places nearby with a better offering then I guess it is not particularly likely

Your comments regarding your meal have been passed on to our head chef and I assure you he will take them on board.
Regarding the menu choice: the organiser of your function would confirmed these options with us prior to the event and so we do hope this eliminates any guests issues with the choices prior to their arrival and we do always try our best to arrange other options if there is any issues.
Once again thank you for your comments and I do hope you will consider visiting the hotel again.
