“Acceptable overnight stay!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 5, 2013

We stayed in a family room, which was on the ground floor. On entering the room smelled of cigarette smoke but was clean and spacious if a little dated. The bathroom was adequate, again dated, with a bath and overhead shower. The beds were comfy and breakfast (at £7.95) was hot, tasty and plentiful. We only paid £41.95 for the room, which was acceptable for the standard we had. We basically needed a pitstop for the night and this fit the bill!

Okay, outside the place looks like a cheap American motel from seventies, and it is a bit of a people warehouse, but inside (apart from the corridors) it's fine.

Bedroom fine. Bathroom a bit dated but okay. Both very clean.

Breakfast room quite stylish because it doubles as a restaurant at night. Not a bad breakfast BUT no proper coffee available and no fresh orange juice. For the sake of a few pennies cost to the hotel these REALLY do make a difference to the breakfast, believe me.

Good that the hotel has a bar, although it's rather lacking in atmosphere and has a decidedly limited choice of drinks.

Big plus was the free wifi, which worked fine for me.

All in all a good value budget hotel.

although we had used this accommodation previously this time we were interrupted twice when booking in as the clerk dealt with people attending interviews he did apologies afterword's, the guest room was not dirty but grubby. Cobwebs from ceiling & under sink unit several marks on walls & repairs done but not painted over. It didn't help to be woken at 5.00am with a dog barking. Previously we had been served with a full breakfast at the table this time it was self service. All tables set for 2 persons, as we had 3 adults on the first morning the staff provided an additional place setting this however did not happen on the second morning & I approached the staff & was given a plate & cutlery.

What a fantastic place to stay. It was clean, room equipped for what you needed. Staff really helpful and obliging. Breakfast was to die for, we had the full English. And the children ate free, what more could you ask for.
The only thing I would suggest would be a warmer quilt for the bed. I would definitely stay again..we had two rooms one being a family and the other a double room.

As we drew up in the rain and fog to be confronted by a a row of outside bedroom doors we wondered if we'd find Norman Bates running the place but the friendly lady behind reception soon out our mind at rest.

Once in the family room it became apparent that the furniture had been designed for a different room. On trying to pull out a second bed from under the single it would only pull so far before banging into the double in the room. This effectively left us with one bed for four people on slightly different levels. The mould above the window was an interesting feature and the bathroom was clean but had seen better days.

However, the room was warm on a cold night.

The breakfast is the best feature with an excellent buffet. The only comment would be that they only possess one highchair so if someone gets to it before you do you need to improvise.

Overall the hotel has clearly been there for a long time and is not specifically built for days inn. Which has caused them some problems when trying to give it their branding and its not up to their usual standards. If you can get rooms here at a bargain price then its not bad for a night or two but I somehow doubt we'll be back.

i found the place to be run down and not very clean. The bath room was old and stained .But most of the staff were pleasant and helpfull except when we went for breakfirst which i had paid for my wife and myself also full amount for are 3 year old boy for a contenental breakfirst there was 2 burnt croissants which had been sitting around for hours i asked for fresh only to be told no breakfirst would be over in 20 mins!. I pressed the the point to be told it would take 20 mins to do fresh! i then asked if we could may be have some of the hot food which was sat on hot plate with no other costumers it wasnt going to be eaten. She said if i paid two pounds more each i could. Then 2 more burnt cold croissants appeared which had been sat in the kitchen to be thrown out! i went to the desk at this point and a very nice lady said to have the hot food as i had asked before. Not a happy bunny.!

This hotel was really convenient for our trip to the Blackpool Illuminations, we checked in including our dog who was also welcomed into the hotel. We would definitely recommend to others. Excellent value for money.
