Just visited the Beijing after hearing "rave" reviews from people. We were really looking forward to a great meal with good service- what a disappointment! Firstly, food is expensive( well, expensive in general) when comparing to other, somewhat better cantonese restaurants in the area, and portions are smaller. I don't mind paying for good food but with poor service on top of this and one of our dishes arriving with king prawns still grey in the middle, this left a lot to be desired! The service here is terrible, we waited nearly 25 minutes for our bill to be given to us, after our starters, one couple were given a clean set of knives and forks for their mains and the other were told they could use the same as they had just eaten with- and something that most front of house staff should know- a smile goes a long way- even if your busy!! Of the six(ish) staff there were waiting on, only one had a smile on her face!
Again, as mentioned in a previous review, waitresses kept leaning over us moving things from and putting things onto the table. On another note, apart from the undercooked king prawn (of which they did knock the cost of the dish off the bill), the food in general was very good. Unfortunately, it was some of the staff and portion sizes that let it down- needless to say, we won't be returning.
