I'm just back from Whitstable where I spent a couple of nights. I fell in love with this lovely town, which was made even more lovely by being able to stay in the gorgeous Polly's Attic. I was so happy that I found such a brilliant, unusual place to stay....definitely not your usual b+b / guest house accommodation.
Polly's Attic is owned by Polly and Bernard who also run The Captain's House and is situated also on Harbour Road, just a stones throw away from the Harbour (the name says it all right?) and on a road full of gorgeous, unusual, individual little shops, with no high street names in sight.
Polly's Attic is exactly what it says it is and the photos on their website show truthfully what you are getting. Yes, it's a little bit small, but has been beautifully designed and full of all the comforts you need for a break away from home. The whitewashed floors and walls actually give it a calming feel, and although it's right on the main road, it really isn't noisy. It's very bright and light and I really couldn't fault it at all. The bed was comfy, and the string of lights hung above made an unusual bedside lamp!
You have your own front door, so it's not like a normal B+B in someone's house. Breakfast is delivered at whatever time you want, delivered to your door in a wicker basket. I have seen negative comments on this site about breakfast but Polly and Bernard clearly state on their website that they provide a continental breakfast - the croissants are baked fresh daily, and along with yoghurt and cereal just the thing to start the day. Coffee and tea are provided along with fresh milk, and fresh orange juice in the room - a really nice touch. You don't want a big full English breakfast anyway when staying in Whitstable as you need to have room to be able to eat the fabulous fresh Oysters and other sea food for lunch !! Parking is so easy - the side streets allow free parking, so easy access with your luggage.
I would highly recommend this accommodation when staying in Whitstable. You have everything you need there for a fabulous stay. Ideal for single stay (like me) or for couples, or even a family with one child - there is the most amazing extra bed high up in the roof.
