“Great staff - great food and very good value Hotel convenient for the town and railway station”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 23, 2013 via mobile

I have used the hotel for business, private functions, the restaurant and I have stayed several times. Each time all of the staff have been very friendly and nothing is too much trouble. The food and service is excellent and I would recommend the hotel to anyone as it offers good value for money ! A special mention to Lisa Helen Sue Richard and Jade and I have just booked a meal in their restaurant next week to try their new menus !

An ideally situated hotel in the High Street. The original building - built in 16th Century it has creaky, uneven floorboards (which I had to negotiate carefull after a few drinks!); the water was warm to hot and the taps ran slow. However, this hotel has character and the double superior room (room 11) was ideal. It was clean, the decor was fine and the bed was very large - although a bit hard. The bathroom was big and clean also. Shame I didn't get time to appreciate the lounge with it's open fireplace. Ample car parking spaces too. The staff were very welcoming and friendly and the English breakfast was very good. I would recommend and do plan to go back.

Room Tip: Pay that bit eextra for the space - double superior room.

I stayed at this hotel, weekend of the 26th January, and found the staff absolutely fabulous. I got lost, and had to ring (twice) for directions, and both times the receptionist was wonderful and guided me where I had gone wrong with no hint of exasperation at my non existent sense of direction.

You have to remember the age of this building, as this does mean, creaking / uneven floors, strange room sizes and if you are in room 6, a bit of a hike through a maze of corridors to get to your room.

The room was an excellent size, the bed really comfortable, the only complaint I have is similar to garyward1274, the shower did not get as hot as I would have liked it.

But all in all, a lovely relaxed stay.

Room Tip: Beware a couple of the rooms have doors directly on the stairs, can't remember the numbers (may...

I recently stayed at this hotel because was attending courses at paddock wood,i have to say the cutomer service was excellent if i had any queries or concerns they were delt with promptly and efficiently. The food was outstanding and waters/waitresses and bar staff were all excellent the only little issue was with room 14 been a little noisy as it is on main landing and can here people coming and going all the time, though not a concern if you are a deep sleeper.Special mention to sue,jo,jade, linda, tracey, lisa and charlotte.

I stayed here last night. To start with I thought it wasn't bad. I am afraid I have scored it not very highly due to the shower. In this day and age, I expect a half decent shower. In my room it was simply controlled by the bath taps. It was impossible to get the correct temperature. Either freezing or scolding hot. This may sound silly but when you stay away, all you want is a nice sleep and then get washed for your day ahead. I couldn't have a decent wash due to the shower. I won't return due to this as for me it totally spoilt my stay.
The room itself wasn't bad and the breakfast was ok. Please update your bathrooms as it totally spoils what could be a nice hotel.

Helen and her team provided fantastic support and a great service both in the run up to and during the evening of my wife's 40th birthday. We had a really good time. This is the first time I've ever left such a review which speaks volumes for the service we received. Thanks again.

This hotel is situated on the main high street in Tonbridge. The car park is at the rear so you are advised to pass the hotel on your right as you drive towards Tonbridge Public School with the Castle behind you. At the next set of lights turn right and then take the second right into East Street and then Church Street by which time you will have seen the sign for the hotel.

Parking here is good with plenty of spaces. You walk out of the main door of the hotel and you are in the High Street. This is a very old hotel. The Reception, Bar and Restaurant areas are well laid out and comfortable and check in was a painless exercise and the girls were very friendly and helpful.

Once you go upstairs towards the accommodation the age of the building becomes apparent. The floors are very uneven. The rooms whilst comfortable can be a little draughty and if you get a room over the bar you can hear all the noise travel through the floor. Sound proofing is not ideal here.

The room itself was fairly spacious and it was clean and comfortable enough. The complimentary coffee tray and biscuits was generous. The layout of the room was a little quirky with the bathroom being elevated up from the main room but this is obviuosly due to the layout and subsequent adaptation of an old building for hotel use.

The Wi-Fi did not actually work too well which is a bit of a bind if you are a business traveller. However there is a Starbucks down the road if you get stuck. I got the impression that an internet connection was not too much of a priority here.

The breakfasts are very good with everything you need being provided. The waitress on both mornings was fast and efficient and clearly good at her job since she was quite capable of serving multiple tables and getting everything just right.

To summarise I would definately recommend the hotel as a good value for money establishment in an excellent location.

There are plenty of places to eat in Tonbridge. It is not short on good restaurants. I can recommend 'The Olive Room' which was very good for an evening meal and if you want something light the KC's Cafe and Restaurant does some real down to earth cafe food of which I can definately recommend the Spanish Omlette.
