“Quaint country pub”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 6, 2011

Popped into this lovely country today for lunch, was delighted to be greeted by a warm log fire. Place has a great feel to it, bar infront of you as soon as you walk in, with friendly staff. Despite a good choices of specials today (pies and fish), I went for the classic KR Burger, glad I did as certainly filled a hole! Nice garden too at the back though darent hang out there too long due to the cold, much prefered being by the fire! Will be back soon no doubt

“Beautiful pub & location, food was top notch”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 28, 2011

We recently went to the Kentish Rifleman for a spot of lunch and so glad we did. Food was delicious and very generous portions, wine was delicious and the boys were very happy with the ales they chose (sorry I can't remember the names of them!). Lovely open fire place which, on a cold day, will no doubt create an even more pleasant atmosphere.

Lovely pub garden too, bit too cold for us to sit outside but in the summer will be lovely.

“We keep going back!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 23, 2011

I was surprised by the last review as I eat at the Kentish Rifleman a lot, and have never had a bad experience, it's a great place, very reasonably priced, lovely and friendly atmosphere and we leave saying "that was good, we'll go back soon"

“A Great Disappointment”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed November 21, 2011

After reading the reviews on TripAdvisor (albeit only three), our friends and ourselves were really anticipating a truly excellent Sunday lunch. Despite being seated next to the bar and close to the kitchen serving doors, we were greeted warmly and served promptly with drinks. The menu promised straight forward fare, particularly the standard roast meals. Starters were adequate rather than exceptional but were rather mean for the prices charged (£5 per starter). However, the main courses ere diabolical, being tasteless, poorly presented and very expensive for what was on offer. From here it was downhill with the desserts being awful. One dish (again £5 per plate) was the weirdest Arctic Roll ever seen and was inedible!
The chef needs to be sacked and someone who knows how to cook, even at a basic level, employed. Take my advice and spend your money somewhere else. A truly awful experience and never again.
