My husband stayed here for a week for business and my daughter and I joined him for a couple of nights. We stayed in a refurbished King Balcony room - which was lovely. The room wasn't that large but furniture and fittings were high standard and the room was decorated in a very restful cream and brown colour scheme. Tea and coffee making facilities and flat screen TV with a nice modern bathroom, but no mini-bar. The balcony and 2 french windows had a view over the river and quayside right over to the huge Pfizer R&D campus. We found that quite amusing as we used to work there, but it.s not the prettiest thing to look at. The bed was extremely comfortable but not very long.
Breakfast was OK - not the best full english in the world, and the breakfast room is a bit bland. Annoying that the butter is on the table, but the toaster and the jams etc at the other end of the room. We had dinner in the brasserie one night which was excellent - just very noisy as the bar is adjacent and was filled with afterwork revellers. Churlish to complain really as I used to be one! A door between the 2 spaces might be a good idea though. All in all they have done an excellent job with the renovations and we enjoyed the stay.
