My husband stayed here for a week for business and my daughter and I joined him for a couple of nights. We stayed in a refurbished King Balcony room - which was lovely. The room wasn't that large but furniture and fittings were high standard and the room was decorated in a very restful cream and brown colour scheme. Tea and coffee making facilities and flat screen TV with a nice modern bathroom, but no mini-bar. The balcony and 2 french windows had a view over the river and quayside right over to the huge Pfizer R&D campus. We found that quite amusing as we used to work there, but it.s not the prettiest thing to look at. The bed was extremely comfortable but not very long.
Breakfast was OK - not the best full english in the world, and the breakfast room is a bit bland. Annoying that the butter is on the table, but the toaster and the jams etc at the other end of the room. We had dinner in the brasserie one night which was excellent - just very noisy as the bar is adjacent and was filled with afterwork revellers. Churlish to complain really as I used to be one! A door between the 2 spaces might be a good idea though. All in all they have done an excellent job with the renovations and we enjoyed the stay.

Excellent Hotel. We felt like we were the first people to use our room after refurbishment. very modern bathroom, very clean.
Some rooms are in the top of the hotel, and with no lift this may be an issue for the less mobile. Great Bar, and good food for dinner. Breakfast could be a little more inspired, but on the whole not bad.

Very nice, clean, modern hotel. Our room was very nice. We didn't have a view but still had a pleasant stay, would go again.

The hotel has undergone significant refurbishment recently so first impressions were very encouraging. Check in was friendly and efficient. My room was small, but clean and the furnishings / bathroom fittings etc. of a good standard. There was a lack of lack of enclosed hanging space, just hooks on the wall which wasn't ideal. The walls of the room were also paper thin, so thin the guy in the next room kept me awake most of the night with his snoring, not very restful. The service in the restraunt was painfully slow even though it wasn't busy, the staff did apologise for this a number of times and when it arrived the food was good.

“Brilliant Bell Inn”

Just spent a long weekend at the Bell Inn Sandwich in Kent. The hotel was very modern and up to date, from the reception area through to the amazing staircase, and into our room. The room was clean and spacous and offered wondernful views over the river and estuary. The restaurant and bistro offered a good range of food brought to the table with a smile and friendly service. Our contact with the staff was always helpful and informative. The name suggests it could be a bit like a pub, but it offers all the charm of a pub and the luxury of a top class hotel. We would definatly stay agian!
