It was a stunning evening and I thought I would take my wife for a relaxing drink and enjoy the sunset. It was 6.30 on a Wednesday we had heard about Sands and saw the balcony empty. I entered and was extremely impressed with the décor and the investment in the property. We then asked the barman if we could have our drink on the balcony to be told in a very surly manner not its fully booked. So we sat inside and had a look at the menu's tempted to order. I asked about a window seat inside, they were also booked, so we sat there inside for 40 minutes and the balcony still only had 3 tables being used. We could have had a 2/3 drinks, a starter, which is what we fancied and go away impressed with Sands, and spent £50-100, before the reserved people arrived, they missed out there The waitresses all looked miserable and we watched numerous people being turned away. No effort was made by the staff to sell the inside tables by offering a fantastic menu from their superb chef (I assume), sell the place to your potential customers. I want A classy Restaurant to succeed in Margate but I worry what they will do in the winter when the weather is Typical Margate and locals remember how they were treated in the summer. Surely you can be more creative about the tables earning money and not being left empty and treating your guests with a little more care as they are the people who determine if you succeed or not
