We booked for the restaurant as we knew it was popular, and had a good reputation. It is a cool place with large windows facing the bay, minimal decor and high ceilings, with a modern and relaxed vibe.
We could have had craft beers but had a bottle of red wine, which was fun as we were handed an empty bottle and directed to a large cask with two taps, one red and one white, to fill it ourselves. The wine was perfectly acceptable and well-priced. Ordering from the board, we had a pear and blue cheese, and a pepper and goats cheese pizza. These arrived quickly and piping hot on wooden boards. The pizzas were both excellent, with the thinnest of crusts which were among the crispiest I have ever eaten. They were followed by a delicious caramel tart and chocolate ice cream which we shared. I noticed that they have Climpsons coffee, another mark of quality and taste as it is only a small company in East London, producing top quality coffee.
The two owners were friendly and helpful, and one of them even gave us a cheery wave when we happened to see her the next morning. Margate has some interesting and innovative places to visit, and this is comfortably among the best of those.
