“Maybe for summer season”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 15, 2012

Lovely shell statue at end of harbour arm - worth a stroll to see it. Not a lot seemed to be happening here - I put it down to being a morning and perhaps the summer season had officially ended with schools going back. A pleasant walk to view the town from the seaward side.

“A favourite Margate spot”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 29, 2012

I spent a lot of time on the Harbour Arm at Margate during a week's stay. On the face of it, it seems there isn't much to it - just a few units comprising a gallery, a small cafe, a cafe/restaurant and a bar. But the area is used well and has a distinctive character and charm. It faces in towards the main beach and the frankly ragged-looking shop fronts (and ugly tower block) along the harbour road, although this view is nice at night. There is a raised path running along the back of the arm, facing the sea and providing great views.

We especially enjoyed the BeBeached cafe/restaurant and the Lighthouse Bar, a good spot to relax and kill some time, perhaps nibbling a few of the decent tapas served there. Or if you prefer, walk back towards the Turner and the main road where you'll find a seafood van with all kinds of goodies to munch on. With all that and the beach, plus the museum/shop and the Lifeboat shop either side of the Turner, you could spend entire days in this one small area even before contemplating the Old Town.

“Nice All Year Round”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 22, 2012

Even in the cold bleak winter its worth a walk along the harbour arm and enjoy a drink at the Light House Bar. It is even nice when the wind is howling and the rain is pouring down to sit in the bar with the log burner keeping you warm and the owner Simon entertaining with his guitar. Also summer is great there with outside seating and a spectacular view of Margate especially at night with the seafront lights.
