“Fantastic hidden gem”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 18, 2013

We stopped here for two nights as I was attending a flying day at Lydd airport, approx 10 mins away. I found the hotel on trip-advisor and booked it for its location. It was very quirky -all alone on the seafront looking like something from an Agatha Christie novel ! Isolated but a lovely get away. The room was lovely, clean and warm ! Kettle, cups, tea and coffee in the room, with a little box of biscuits :) there was a honesty bar ! Andalusia nice sitting room to relax where newspapers were available in the morning. The icing on the cake was the amazing food we were served of an evening £40 per head for three courses followed by a cheese plate. We have been lucky enough to eat in some great restaurants and the food here was right up there with the best. Can't speak highly enough of what we ate, and the breakfasts were just as good. So if you want a getaway that's a little different but well worth a try, this place is a must - massive thank you to the owners and staff for a great weekend :)

This was an impromptu stay last summer when we felt like a break away having cancelled a prior engagement. We liked the idea of Kent but could find nothing at short notice until some diligent web searching and the good hotel guide (I think) pointed us in the direction of this place. Couldn't have been a better choice, it was superb. The food was excellent, in some ways unusual, creative, but not insubstantial; blended with just the right amount of host contact and a lovely room with a view straight out to sea, it doesn’t get any better.
Just a shame we chose to only eat in one night. We plan to go back in the winter soon to experience some lashing seas and winds in this isolated but thrilling location.
Oh, and it’s a great place to start bike rides from, especially indirection of Hyde and Dungeness.

(Note the date of our visit was July 2012, didn't have choice to enter earlier then Sept.)

Our second stay at Romney Bay House Hotel, and just as magical as the first. We booked room 4 which we really like as it has views to the sea and also over the golf course - bright comfortable and very clean. Loved the food, absolutely exquisite and cooked to perfection, with so much attention to the little details. Will most certainly be going back - it's so rare to find hotels of such quality in such a fascinating location and at such a reasonable price.

wanted a night away, the place we usually stay was fully booked so searched and found this, liked the look of it,from the outside, straight away, booked it online £145 for double room sea views.
its not a place you would ever be passing and spot ,because of where it is,but its in a lovely place, opp the sea, you can walk or sit along the sea wall and its so peacefull.
the hotel its self is clean and tidy, and our room (1) was at the front of the hotel. the breakfast was lovely, very friendly staff.
the road that leads to the hotel is a bit of a state with potholes and very dark at night.
no children under 14 allowed.
there are tables and chairs for you to sit outside in the grounds, and a golf course right next to it.
would go again .
they do serve an evening meal, but we ate out

Hidden away along a coast track this hotel was a smashing little find. Warm welcome from the hosts, a lovely small room at the back of the hotel overlooking the golf course, and most importantly for us it was spotlessly clean (why can't other establishments match this standard?) The hotel itself is a rabbit warren of delightful places to sit and relax, we used the 'The Lookout' a lot, and enjoyed watching the storm dance across the bay. Breakfast was a delight of properly cooked English fayre, served up by the delightful waitresses. It was a joy to be served by people who made us feel welcome. We sadly could only manage one night this visit but will return, of that we have no doubt.

Our family party stayed for two nights to celebrate a birthday. We ranged in age from 14 to 85 and all ages in between, and all had a great time. All the rooms were clean, comfortable with lovely views.Really appreciated the lovely linen and towels.
We particularly enjoyed the breakfasts, which were generous, nicely served and very tasty. Half of our party are vegetarian and we were well catered for.
We had dinner one evening and appreciated all the effort to make this a special occasion. The table looked beautiful and the food was very good.
There is a comfortable lounge to relax in after dinner and a well stocked honesty bar to meet all tastes.

We had received very detailed instructions prior to our arrival which made getting to the hotel very easy. At the hotel we were shown to our room by the very helpful and efficient Lisa. Our room (number 6) was lovely and bright with a seaview. It was so pleasant being able to open the windows and listen to the sea. The room was spacious with a good firm bed, plenty of hanging space, two chairs and tea and coffee making facilities. The position is ideal for people wanting a quiet break with easy access to walks along the beach. The style throughout the hotel was comfortable and quirky, with practical touches such as binoculars, lots of books and a courtesy bar. The breakfast was very generous and was excellent quality. The only small negatives are that there are quite a few rules such as the door being locked at a certain time, having to select a breakfast the night before, having to request dinner 48 hours in advance, no red wine in the bedrooms, also not being able to have a key so having to ring the bell each time you want to get back in. These are obviously things that are put in place to help ease the running of a family business and they were fully explained in advance, but they felt a little restrictive at times. that being said both Lisa and Clinton were extremely good hosts, helpful and friendly. Overall we had a very nice stay and I felt a little disappointed to be leaving.
