“Great Pub so inviting after a brisk walk along the Downs”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 15, 2012

Stopped here after a long brisk walk from Herne Bay Seafront to Reculver Towers, on a hot but windy day so to see it getting closer and closer was very welcoming. The Pub serves food and the board advertised full sunday roast for £4.95 ! . Had Coffee as it was early morning but will definately be going back to sample the sunday roast.

“No service”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed February 15, 2012

I visited in Jan 2012 and after clambering around St Mary's Church/Roman Fort ruins I was excited to visit this pub for some food and a drink.

Unfortunately I wait for sometime at the bar and no service came. So I decided to just eat my energy bars and head off back into town.

However the menu is reasonable in price and they do a £4.99 roast dinner on Sundays.

“Pub grub at its best”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 7, 2012

An promptu trip out found ourselves at The King Ethelbert - very friendly service and great value for money with a decent size meal - we had one roast chicken with a giant yorkshire, a propert welsh rarebit - very filling and as described, an omelette and boiled gammon without parsley sauce because of being on a dairy free diet - forgot to ask for no butter on the new potatoes so mention it if you are intolerant. Quick service - and such good value - we will be going back for sure.
