Tea Room type Cafe, serving a variety of food. We had soup of the day with crusty roll and an Apple pud washed down with a nice cup of tea. Value for money and good quality

“Lovely food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 23, 2012 via mobile

Me & my husband love the Pantry, the food is fresh, homemade & reasonably priced. A little gem for lunch or tea & cake. Just what Herne bay needs. Great service & great food, what more can you ask for?!

“Quaint and Quality”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 21, 2012

Herne Bay is a difficult place to start a business. With it's High Street of charity shops and pound savers - it seemingly caters for those of the seaside town mentality, where earnings are spent of alcohol, cigarettes and bric & brac that no one else wanted ten years ago.
So it is a pleasant surprise when new enterprises are able to establish themselves in a town where there is only one place to get a book, the library, yet over five places to flutter your monies away in it's numerous betting shops- or tattoo yourself in one of the handful of parlours that will ink your skin in the same pattern that is sported by the majority of 16-45 year olds that frrequent the town.
Yes, Herne Bay is a tough cookie to crack. Most chainstore will abandon all hopes and relocate to a more trendy and accomodating area, and most start up companies can usually expect to discover their hopes and dreams being shattered like the windows of their stores that will no doubt suffer then hooligan hand of the local drinkers that are unsure how to accept a new venture other than by using the old adage of pitch forking and burning them it would seem.
So, The Pantry - it sits at the top end of town, has large windows that are usually steamed, and that is no bad thing, for the Pantry offers a delicious choice of home made cakes and some truly moreish sandwiches with fillings that excite those that are looking for more than just a sausage roll, in fact the brie and cranberry toasted sandwich would be worth a trip to The Pantry from any overland distance. The Pantry has a homely feel whereby you do not feel like a paying customer but more a guest in the home of a happy collection of cooks and you are merely offering your monies to them as a gesture of satisfacation, and this is a nice touch as each time you visit you will have the sense that no request is too much and your appreciative gastric moans of delight for their carrot cake is what keeps them smiling at every person that graces their fine pantry.
I sincerely hope that The Pantry and their staff remain a treasure to the this seaside town.
