“Lovely old pub in the middle of old Faversham”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 6, 2014

Was warmly welcomed during a busy lunch time session for the pub - roast lunches looked delicious. Initially put into Room 2 but asked to move because of noise and odours from extractor fan in kitchen. Was moved immediately to lovely double room at front of building. Guests are given key to back entrance and left to come and go as they wish. Breakfasts are excellent. Staff friendly and efficient. Lovely walks within the town and into the countryside beyond. Train station within walking distance - frequent trains along the nearby Kent coast. Did not have evening meals solely because I had a friends in the area and ate with them. Yes, would stay again and have recommended to friends as a good place for a weekend, or longer, break.

Room Tip: Check when booking your room is not adjacent to the kitchen to avoid extractor noise/odours.

We've stayed here several times during the past few years. Bedrooms in the main building recently renovated to a high standard although all rooms and beds are very comfortable. Breakfasts are good and freshly cooked to order. Location is very convenient for the town centre.

Room Tip: Stay in rooms 3 to 6 for preference but don't be put off if only other rooms are available

This place was faultless. Room was spotless, staff were lovely and am definitely going back
The food was lovely and although they had a table of 10 they served us first so that we did not have to "wait".

Last minute trip to Faversham and a quick internet search en-route ended us here. The initial welcome in to such a cosy pub was very well received after such an awful journey... The pub was buzzing with chatter, the fire was roaring.
The rooms were excellent - very clean and modern, well equipped without the clutter!!
Traveling with a 3 year old often means hotels turn us away as they cant have 3 in a room - NO problems here and a bed was quickly arranged.
We dined in the restaurant for evening meal, Sunday dinner and 2 breakfasts - each time the food was outstanding, the Saturday evening steak cooked to perfection and dare I say it - probably the best Sunday roast I have ever tasted - for £10 !!! breakfast was cooked to order quickly and again superb.
The staff were attentive without being in your face, the bear was excellent, and everyone was so so friendly and helpful.
Will definitely return ! Thank you. Neil, Zoe and Charlie. London

Room Tip: Number 5 at the top of the world was excellent.

Stayed in room 7. Well decorated comfortable room. Staff friendly and helpful. Pub is lovely we went in Winter and there was a roaring fire. It's a very traditional cosy pub. Breakfast was well stocked and we were looked after very well. The pub is centrally located right in the town centre and a short walk to the brewery. Recommended!

One night stay last night. Lovely staff, excellent food (pumpkin and sheeps cheese risotto), well decorated room with lovely bathroom..nothing to fault EXCEPT that a partition wall set in to one of the bedroom walls is access to the main extractor fan for the kitchen..so constant background noise until about 10 pm..and then it starts with a whoosh at 0700 on a Sunday morning!! Such a pity because everything else was excellent

Room Tip: Avoid Room 2 unless you like waking up early

We came down on a Friday night and stayed over to the Saturday for a visit to the Shepherd Neame Brewery. Upon arrival we were warmly welcomed and tipped that the parking officers in the area were really hot on ticketing people, which was really helpful.

We were shown to our room (double en-suite) which was gorgeous, much more than I was expecting. The bed was comfortable, the place was clean, the bathroom was spacious and well presented.

Dinner was lovely, I had the Prawn and Mussel Bouillabaise(?) - highly recommend it, it's a meal in itself and was very well done. Lamb for the main, which was tender and beautifully cooked. Shepherd Neame beers on the bar (can't go wrong) and a very cosy log fire.

The only minor issue we had throughout the stay was there was no hot water left for an evening shower, but the bath the following morning was fine. The staff couldn't do enough for us, letting us stay past checkout and being the right balance of attentive and letting you eat during the meal.

Would stay again.

Room Tip: Our room was sort of above the bar, but even on the Friday night the noise didn't really disturb...
