What a welcome ,tea and warm scones ,and then into a lovely clean spacious room.
You will not get a breakfast better than this all freshly cooked home produce at its best Rhubarb compote scrambled eggs from their own eggs and fresh bread .
The perfect hosts we would recommend this to everyone Many thanks to Ken and Sandra

On a budget, but still wanting divine food, an exceptionally comfortable bed (like the Dorchester's), close to a beach and countryside? We found it at Gardener's rest and then some.

We soon got used to our room, very comfortable sofa, perfect size television (with DVDs - we watched The King's Speech) and truly beautiful views of the garden and countryside. We loved the closeness to a very clean beach with cycle path, white cliffs, pebble beach (for us that means no sand mess) and John-Lewis-esque beach huts. And a just a handful of locals with a visiting family with their kids, black labrador and Range Rover.

Now for the food. At The Gardener's Rest you get scones on arrival - lovely soft, warm, buttery and just a bit crumbly - gorgeous! And the breakfast - you wouldn't get better at the Wolsley in Piccadilly. Bread made the evening before, pancakes with home-made fruit compote (strawberries picked from the garden), poached eggs (from their hens), perfect hashbrowns (I'm a hash-brown connoisseur), all served with nice fine china and silverware. You can feel so very spoilt and full from this breakfast, you can do without lunch.

Every night my husband and I had fun filling in our breakfast order for the following morning, he suggested he should be able to do it at home too! (unlikely!). I would like to give the hosts 100% credit for being so effortless, delivering such a fine catering feat whilst tending a great kitchen garden and helping stressed/fussy customers from West London relax and slow down..

We also didn't have any problem with curtains - all in place and all worked to keep the light out in the morning.

If you are close-minded to only see fault, a moaning-sadist or want a bland corporate hotel, this is not for you. For the price this is a slice of Kent foodie heaven, with the things that really matter on a break.

We were put off as we walked to the front door by two enormous half chewed bones lying on the path, obviously a house belonging to dog lovers. We were shown to our room which was spacious, very clean and comfortable and then welcomed with tea and scones. Our host was very friendly and helpful telling us about the area. We were asked to choose our breakfast that evening which I hate, how do you know what you will want to eat the next day. We were even asked to choose which cereal we wanted.....
Comfortable beds but no blind or curtains for the top windows of the room which was annoying as we woke up very early in the morning because of the light. The owners had put out used eye masks to try to solve the problem but come on, just install proper curtains.
Breakfast time. This meal was served on a landing with good views out to the sea. However we were served with what we had ordered and nothing more. So if cornflakes were ordered, only cornflakes were put on the table. We thought that gave a very mean impression of the owners hospitality.
This b and b was good in many ways but I would not stay there again, too many foibles of the owners. I also was disturbed greatly by the noise of their radio which was in a room below our bedroom. Very annoying.

My Wife and I went to the Gardeners Rest B&B for our first year anniversary and I must say it was a well spent anniversary. Both Ken and Sandra were very accomodating and helped with finding local spots to eat at as well as sugestions on what we could do in Deal or the surrounding area. The breakfast choice was absolutley amazing with everything you could want from full english to continental, cereal, a choice of teas or coffee's etc. Words really cant expalin what a lovely place this was to stay at and how greatful we are for both Ken and Sandra's hospitality.

Room Tip: The east room has a bath (rather than just a shower) for those that like to bath in comfort.

Just returned from a very enjoyable 2 night stay at the Gardener's Rest where a warm welcome was received. It's a great location to explore the lovely local area. We made use of the bikes - no additional charge. Our room was spacious and clean with great views. Impressive garden. Food very good. We hope to make a return visit. Paul&Claudia

We can only reiterate what others have said. Everything was provided to make us feel welcome and comfortable. Highlights were our hosts, the breakfast, free wi fi and the view from our window of the sea and amazing garden. The light did wake me up the first morning but I made good use of the eye mask, thoughtfully provided, and had no problems the second night. There is a lot to see in the area, we particularly enjoyed Deal Castle. and Richborough Fort

Room Tip: Both rooms were good but if you want a sea view pick the east room.
