“Great”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 10, 2012

Me and a friend stayed here for a night on our cycling holiday. The owners were great, even put plastic bags on our bike seats when it started to rain! Clean, comfy rooms and good breakfast. Thank you!

We stayed at the Amadis for three nights, with my elderly mother. Both rooms were clean and well furnished with en-suites. Rooms are serviced daily and restocked with Teas, Coffees and those very lovely little coffee biscuits. Dot was always on hand with fresh milk for our rooms so that we did not have to use the little UHT pots

The breakfasts were just lovely lots of fresh fruit, strawberries, blueberries, kiwi's as well as the usual apples, oranges etc., organic yoghurt, along with a full English, toast etc..

The Amadis is well placed for visiting Canterbury, Whitstable and Herne Bay. This along with the ability to park your car at the Amadis defiantly gives the Amadis the edge. So many B&B's in area do not have their own parking.

The local pub the Hare and the Hounds is defiantly worth a visit, all the food is home made, well priced and simply delicious.

We did find Herne Bay to be a little bit of a let down although there is a little place in the bandstand that sells the most wonderful ice-cream, Whitstable is quiet simply charming with an old fashioned feel it is best to visit at weekends to make the most of the harbour shops, as they are closed week days.

All the lanes and different places to park in Canterbury can be confusing, it is easy to become disorientated - you will need a map, we purchased a tourist map from the car park for £1, we did have a very pleasant trip to the cathedral and punt on the river - a must for everyone

We did find that Canterbury was overstocked with cafes and restaurants, however we did have dinner at the olive grove which was very good.

Dot, Mike and Paddy made us feel very welcome, a true home from home, we would recommend Amadis to anyone.

Owners were very friendly and welcoming and the rooms were spotlessly clean. There were also lots of little 'extras' which make all the difference. The breakfast was superb and all in all it was excellent value.

Accommodation for visitors to The Open is hard to find, so we were very pleased to get two nights here for four visitors. Very friendly, welcoming and helpful owners, comfortable and very clean rooms and an excellent breakfast selection. Would be ideal for visiting Canterbury and other parts of Kent.
