“Cheerful and cheap”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 9, 2013

Stayed last minute whilst working in area. Very nice owner with cafe below for extra sustenance if needed, plus free wi-Fi. Decent breakfast, bed and bathroom. Good value and only two rooms, so good for a few of you staying. Nice pretty bit of Kent.

My daughter and I spent a night in the Attic Room in this beautiful Tudor house - a lovely room, very charming, clean and tastefully renovated, my daughter particularly liked the fairy lights! Very friendly welcome for us and our dog and a tasty breakfast (cereals and/or full English) made this stay a truly wonderful experience.

The building is beautiful and classic Tudor British (wonky beams e.t.c). When we arrived we were taken to our room, which was a little cold but the heating was quickly put on and it felt more cosy. The room was pretty and far enough away from the rest of the house to feel separate. The breakfast was nice and the bread was delicious.

My wife and I would highly recommend this B+B. The location is spot on for visiting attractions in Kent. The owners are more than friendly and would bend over backwards for you. Michelin star restaurant the West House (would recommend) a couple doors down. Pub next door including friendly locals and landlord. Restaurant over the road, Chinese takeout, newsagents, post office. The B+B is also a lovely little coffee shop. Parking on the street outside or free car park over the road. Period property with low ceilings, we were in the attic room with en suite, lovely room, but bring a hard hat with you if your over 5 foot (we thought it was great but marked it down due to head trauma). Be aware as its a period property the stairs are only negotiable by the able bodied (climbing stairs after a few drinks is interesting), adds to the charm of the stay. Would stay again.

5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 9, 2012

We stayed here for one night in December - The 'Attic Room' was totally charming with lots of attention to detail in decor. All the festive decorations of the Christmas season in the tea room just added to the character of the accommodation and building. It was really quite magical! Caroline and Gary are a very genuine, friendly and helpful couple who made us feel very looked after. The tea room on the ground floor is so lovely and welcoming and we had a wonderful full English breakfast before we departed. We had spent some time in the nearby village of Tenterden during our stay and I would recommend visiting this village if you like shopping and exploring a nice village with character. We had our main evening meal at The Red Lion which is right next door to the B&B and the food was wonderful. All in all, we had a really lovely weekend break. We certainly plan to revisit and recommend to friends!

4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 5, 2012

My young daughter and myself recently spent a 'girlie' Saturday night in the attic room which is a delightful room with bags of character and surprisingly spacious despite being right at the top of the house.Caroline was very accomodating and helpful from when making the reservation right through the end and served a great breakfast in front of the woodburner on a chilly morning. Many lovely and thoughful touches including hairdryer, teamaking facilities with homemade cookies, local magazines to name a few. Only potential drawback for some people could be the stairs especially for people with limited mobility as stairs were steep and could be difficult to navigate and not being able to stand up in the bath (did not worry us) but otherwise a delightful place which we hope to be back and visit.

We stayed here for 2 nights in the attic double room. It was ideal for our needs and the service was so friendly with a delicious breakfast ready for us both mornings.
The owner was so willing to help but not at all intrusive, got the balance just right :-)
Agree that there is no stand in shower but lovely stand alone tub with shower attachment so no difficulties there.

Room Tip: The attic room was lovely but the stairs may be difficult if you are not stable on your feet... Can...
