“Fantastic High Tea in Dandylion cafe”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 24, 2013

Outstanding High tea was served for party of 6 + child (request & notice given prior) with warm, friendly and professional service.

Views are breath taking over Freshwater bay.

The price was unbelievably reasonable for what we all had and all our needs were taken care of. There isn't anywhere to compare this lovely traditional high tea treat for our family.

Can't recommend enough, and will definitely return.

Thanks Danylion. You all made my girls 30th birthday celebrations a truly memorable occasion :-)

Called in here on a walk - helpful friendly staff and delicious food and very reasonable prices too

Stunning location for lunch over looking the rolling sea and small bay great walks and (March to Nov) the open top needles bus passes twice an hour (otherwise its the 12 bus which aint massively regular or short walk for the 7)

The hotels' location is stunning, but sadly its interior is tired & compared to the many other hotels I have stayed in over the last 40+ years for business & pleasure it does not reach a 3* standard. The staff are pleasant, but not entirely mindful of the work-in-hand ! One dreadful example was when they cleared away coffee & tea after dinner, before we could serve ourselves & referred us to the barman if we wanted serving thereafter. Appalling ! There are a couple of quaint lounges downstairs, which are ideal for reading/relaxing, but the "Dandelion Cafe" room is cold & unappealing. A word of caution : one of the ladies in our group was locked in her room & had to call my mobile for help - there are no telephones in the rooms !! In summary, this hotel is adequate for a short walking holiday base, but nothing more.

Fantastic location.one of the best on the Island. Staff very friendly and helpful. Only booked for one night, but would have liked to stay longer. Will definitely return. Shower not brilliant, but still good value for money.

Room Tip: Room 43 had lovely view of the Bay

This hotel caters brilliantly to keen recreational walkers. It is in a prime location with stunning views of cliffs and downs. Walking trails are even suggested on check in.
My friend and I stayed with an HF Holiday's tour group in which our walks were guided daily. All needs were seen to including full english breakfasts, packed lunches and snacks of choice for your day and banquet style seating for dinner. Several varied dinner choices were offered daily, and were very good with lovely service. The hotel itself is steeped in history, such cozy rooms, hot showers, and even a "boot room" to remove and clean hiking boots. Drying racks corresponding to rooms are provided as well as areas to dry one's gear on rainy days. Full bar and heated swimming pool as well. For families, for walkers, for those who wish to participate in a guided walk, this such a refreshing site for a holiday!

Room Tip: No air conditioning, but cool sea breezes across your room.

This hotel is run by a co operative society and badly needs a free market reality check. It has a great location for walkers being very close to Tennyson down. The staff, once approached, are very friendly and helpful. However it feels like an institution, more specifically a Care home for the elderly. The rooms are large and clean and recently redecorated, unfortunately they seem to have found the last remaining supplier of 1970's bathroom suits. Breakfast is served at group tables. I couldn't find Chairman Mao's little red book, but I am sure it was there somewhere.

Room Tip: Ask for a view.
