I'm delighted that my work means I am once again able to stay at Crossways for several nights over the spring and summer. As soon as I arrive I am greeted like an old friend by Dave and Marde and brought tea and freshly baked cookies in the bar - or in the beautiful garden if the weather is fine.
I feel equally at home in all the different rooms, which are all spotlessly clean with extremely comfortable beds, crisp sheets and fluffy towels and bathrobes. The ones in the main house itself are wonderful - beautifully decorated in keeping with the Arts and Crafts style of the house, but with added modern conveniences such as flat screen TVs mounted on the walls and spacious bathrooms. I also thoroughly enjoy staying in one of the lodge rooms, which is a bit like having your own private chalet. On sunny mornings and evenings you can open the door to enjoy the lovely sights and smells of the garden, or sit out on the little verandah to read a book or magazine.
The meals at Crossways are always a particular treat! Breakfast starts with a fresh fruit platter and you can then choose from a selection of hot breakfasts, all made from quality ingredients and cooked to order, or the healthy option of porridge with yoghurt and fruit compote. I am always too full to manage the extra little treats such as freshly baked croissants, scones or pastries that are served with breakfast so take them to enjoy for elevenses! In the evening, I often order one of Marde's lovely home made pizzas, and, when my husband can join me, we treat ourselves to a fabulous meal in the restaurant.
All in all, I can thoroughly recommend Crossways as a wonderful home from home where you are completely spoilt!
