“Very disappointed !”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed June 5, 2013

Our room looked very nice when we first arrived and the bed comfortable but during the night we experienced a lot of noise coming from the corridor from other guests, this carried on throughout the night which prevented us from getting any sleep. In the morning we went to take a shower and we had no hot water. We phoned reception who told us to collect a key for another room so we could use the shower in that room. We packed our bags, went to reception to collect the key and traipsed to the new room. Again no hot water !! We phoned reception and again was told to collect another key for another room. Third time lucky !!! On the plus we demanded a complimentary breakfast which we did get !!

Thank you for taking the time to review the hotel. It is a real shame that other guests were so inconsiderate.
I do apologise regarding the water issue. Although I do not know the exact date you stayed I am aware that on Sunday 2nd June a boiler did lockout causing there to be no hot water in one of our four bedroom blocks. This boiler was reset when we realised the failure but it took a while to heat the water back up. I am glad that Reception were able to offer an alternative room to shower in and pleased they gave you complimentary breakfast without fuss. I fully understand why this issue spoilt your stay but can assure you this type of boiler failure is not a frequent occurrence so I do hope you would try the hotel again in the future. Please contact me directly on gm@ramadahatfieldhotel.co.uk if I can be of assistance in the future.

The front of the hotel looks very art deco and I thought quite attractive although the rear isn't. The car park is pay and display but free to residents. It is located directly opposite the Galleria so if shopping is your thing it is ideal. The Galleria also has loads of restaurants if the hotel restaurant doesn't appeal. Breakfast was excellent, very wide selection and pleasant staff.
We spent £20 upgrading to a superior room which was money well spent. It is worth knowing that your stay entitles you to use the leisure complex across the street which was amazingly well equipped.
Our only real gripe was a large amount of noise in the corridors and adjoining rooms. This is the fault of other guests and not the hotel though.

Thank you so much for your great 4 star review. I am delighted to find someone who found the original art deco building attractive! Also pleased you found breakfast excellent and my team pleasant. Upgrading to a superior room is good value as it gives you a large seating area with comfy sofa. We look forward to welcoming you back.

Not very attractive building from outside, but the accommodation was clean and spacious. Very good breakfast, bed comfy, ironing board and iron in room. Excellent value for money. Can recommend for a short stay.

Room Tip: Requested quiet room and, although I could not hear traffic nearby, I was aware of a constant hummin...

Thank you for your 4 star review. We are pleased you found our accommodation clean & spacious; most of our bedrooms are above average in size! Also delighted you had a very good breakfast and found your stay excellent value for money. We look forward to welcoming you back soon.

The original hotel was built in 1936 in an art deco style and has strong links to Hatfield's aviation history. This style of building is not attractive to many people but due to it's grade II listing the frontage cannot be altered. We have however recently created an area of grass in front of the hotel, planted around the Comet Plane statue and hung hanging baskets with spring flowers around the building to enhance the curb appeal of the exterior building.

I booked this hotel 2 months ahead of our stay as we were attending a wedding reception about 4 miles away from the hotel. We received a phone call at 2pm explaining that there had been a technical issue and there was no room for us at the hotel, we would be moved to a hotel in Hitchin which was around 17 miles in the opposite direction to the wedding we would be attending. We explained that logistically this was not possible as we would not be able to check in, change and get to the wedding on time. Needless to say, we were not happy about this. After further discussion, we were told that we would be accommodated at a 4 star hotel over the road at no additional cost to ourselves and we were happy with this arrangement. However, when we arrived at the hotel over the road they were fully booked. They explained that they had communicated this to the staff at the Ramada but no one had told us this. they had no rooms available and called every hotel in the area for us - everywhere was full! We were feeling quite desperate at this point thinking we were not going to make it to the wedding on time, so we went back to the Ramada and spoke to the manager. Suddenly they managed to find a room for us after causing us a great deal of stress and giving us about 10 minutes to shower and get ready for a wedding. The room was very average (our expectations were not high) but worse of all, it stank of stale cigarette smoke! The manager provided no explanation to us as to how this had happened and we had to push to get a small amount taken off our bill. Our experience was terrible, the staff were incompetent and we would not stay at this hotel again or any Ramada if we were paid!

My partner and I stayed at the Ramada hotel for 1 night on 26th May. We chose this hotel due to the location as we needed to be close to the Uni for a festival we were attending.

The outside of the hotel looks very run down, in much need of some TLC! However, we were surprised with the inside which had no reflection on the exterior. Our room was very nice, big comfy bed and the bathroom was good with a powerfull shower.

We didn't eat at the hotel or have breakfast so I can't comment on that.

All in all, a good hotel for an over night stay and we would return.

Thank you for your 4 star review. I am delighted my team offered such friendly service and you found your bedroom spacious; the majority of our bedrooms are above average size. I am glad you managed to find yourself a good room rate; there are some great on-line deals out there especially at weekends! I also agree the Galleria Outlet Shopping Centre just opposite is well worth a visit and does boast Europe's first digital cinema.
