“Bland”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed February 10, 2013 via mobile

Visited cafe Jeera on Saturday night. Place was busy, luckily got a table for two.

We ordered from the house specialities:

- lamb green mossala "Hot spicy diced chicken or lamb cooked with fresh green chilli, green pepper, corriander, cumin & ginger" = bland green sludge with no flavour and no spice (albeit the lamb was tender). Very poor...

- chicken jalfreezi - better, at least it tasted of the ingredients, however it was 'mild', oily and average at best.

The staff visited our table at high frequency - less concerned with us enjoying the night, but in rushing us along.

Overall poor.

“Fantastic”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 21, 2013 via mobile

Being lovers of Asian food my partner and I eat a fair amount of food from the various different countries. We both agreed this was the best Indian food we've had.
The food was not only wonderfully presented, with vibrant colours and meticulous placement but it tasted exceptional.
The service was good throughout although we ended up deciding not to have a desert as we waiting so long for the desert menu to be brought.
This venue is typically priced for Harpenden and I feel a little on the pricey side however the food makes it well worth it.

“Delicious curry and attentive service.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 7, 2013

We have visited Cafe Jeera several times and feel that the food is now better than ever.
As always, we received a warm welcome and excellent service. Queries about items on the menu are answered and suggestions offered.
Our duck starters were unusual and delicious. Main courses were well flavoured equally good.
Cafe Jeera is a good local restaurant in a convenient location.

“Mouth watering Lam shank and Machli Jalpori!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 22nd December 2012

Mouth watering Lamb shank (Sikonder Jeera Lamb) and Seabass (Machli Jalpori) the decoration, very fine presentation, to good to eat. The taste was out of this world! Ourselves and four friends pre-agreed that each of us will have something different instead of the regular personal favourites so that we can really let our taste buds roam in wonders. Indeed we were not dissappointed, we all agreed that this was a real find, a sort of London based idea on our door step but with out of London price tag. The Lamb Kalinji and the Tandoori Monk Fish was all very delicious and very satisfying. You could not fault the service although the restaurant was heaving with diners, a real buz! One would probably not believe that there was a credit crunch or reccession out there! We highly recommened it, although except to wait a little longer then your average Indian, run of the mill. The head chef (co-owner) came and asked how we found the meal towards the end of the night which i thought was a brilliant touch, this is very much Indian Novel Cuisine by far. We'll definitely see you soon!

“Latest visit”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 11, 2012

Visited the Jeera at the weekend. Enjoyed it. Service was good and food likewise. Sometimes the service is hit and miss and sometimes good. Luckily, it was the latter this time. Food whilst not stunning is good by Harpenden restaurant standards.
