“A Sense of History”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 20, 2013

A favourite place - first visited in 1963. It has changed a lot with a visitor centre and cafe etc but still holds a lot of charm and a sense of history. The museum is worth a visit, the highlight being a model showing how the ships were built with the supply of timber stockpiled between the houses. We visited on a cold damp March day and so it was fairly quiet.

“Step back in time”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 15, 2013

This is a Ship building site just down the river from Beaulieu, it is where many large and small ships were built at the time of the Battle of Trafalger. Very interesting museum, walk down the two lines of cottages to the river . Visit the labourers cottage and compare to the Master Builders house, now a hotel.

“Despite the extreme cold weather the past 2 days”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 12, 2013

Upon arrival in the car park, very few visitors were here due to the extreme cold snowy weather. However, we managed to see as much as possible. The Maritime Museum was very interesting and it helped that the lady on the desk in this museum was very knowledge. You could easily spend 2 hours looking around this museum!

“Simply beautifull!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 27, 2013

So beautifull and tranquill, you can sit for hours watching the people and boats go by. It has the added bonus of a river boat trip and alos you can do kayaking from here aswell as the museum which is very well done. There is a lovely river walk from Beaulieu to Bucklers Hard which I think is the best way to get there.

“Beautiful location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 27, 2013

Bucklers Hard is located on the river bank- great location. Interesting and informative. We enjoyed walking around- the chapel is so small and worth a visit.
