Found this delightful pub quite by accident, whilst actually looking for another one ! It was a real find , excellent beers, superb food- I took ages to choose as the menu was so good and lovely staff ! We will certainly be returning.

“Brilliant, as ever.”

Another fabulous meal. Always a lovely, friendly atmosphere with excellent, reasonably priced food. The small portions are a great idea too.

Friendly, efficient service. Definitely can't be beaten locally

“Relaxed & Family-Friendly”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 3, 2013

Laid-back great old pub five miles out from Ringwood in a beautiful part of the forest. Good basic unpretentious pub food served by friendly staff willing to go the extra mile to keep their customers happy. Kids welcome!

“Good quality food & ales in a beautiful setting”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 1, 2013

The Red Shoot is a great pub set deep within the forest. My parther and I visited on Sunday and the pub was incredibly busy with people pouring out of the front doors and onto the patio area. We struggled to find a table inside but were happy to sit outside under the covered patio area and watch the horses and tractors as they passed! If you are looking to sit inside where it looked very warm and cosy I do recommend booking in advance.

The menu itself has not changed since the last time I visited the pub around a year ago. We ordered the Red Shoot burger which arrived in good time considering how busy the pub was. The burger itself was very tasty, but I felt it could have been presented a little better as it came out on a board with the chips and coleslaw on the side.

I would also recommend visiting this pub on a weeknight evening when the pub is less busy and you can enjoy a more relaxing meal. They offer a fine selection of ales which are brewed on site in the micro brewery and I would recommend a pint of the Muddy Boot to any ale drinker as this was the stand out beer for me.

Overall I was very impressed with how the pub was being run over a very busy lunchtime and enjoyed great food and beer in a beautiful setting.

“disappointing”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 30, 2012

large pretty friendly pub,but the food very disappointing poor menu very expensive. We We had ribeye of pork, bubble and squeak with peas. when it arrived it looked lost on the plate, we asked whether there were vegetables to come, told they were in the bubble and squeak. As there was barely a tablespoonful of this not alot. We will not be rushing back.
