Great 2 day stay at this B&B, ideally located in the centre of the New Forest. Room was how described, pictured & hoped for! Very clean & very comfortable, with nice touches like a mini-bar at reasonable prices. The owners were friendly & helpful with things like restaurant recommendations & cooked a very nice breakfast too!
Altogether a very pleasant stay & would definately choose this place to again.

  • Liked — The comfortable, clean, nicely decorated & spacious bedroom/ bathroom
  • Disliked — the stairs!

After searching for centrally located accomodation to explore the New Forest we came across this little gem - Temple Lodge in Lyndhurst. From the moment we arrived until leaving we were treated in an extremely friendly welcoming way by owners Mike and Teresa. The room was large and spacious with a good sized bathroom and mini bar. The breakfast was superb.

Many hotels you stay in can be quite sterile - this is the complete opposite at Temple Lodge. The owners help create a real sense of character and are knowledgable about the local area. La Pergola italian restaurant 50 yards away is also highly recommended. A definite must place to stay in the New Forest - we will definitely be returning. Thanks again!

Located on the main road into Lyndhurst this B&B is very good. The owners are very welcoming and were always asking if everything was ok and suggesting things to do and places to see.

The room was lovely, clean and a good size. It was also well stocked with complimentary tea, coffee and biscuits as well as a pay mini bar.

The breakfast was a very tasty full english as well as cereals, juices, yoghurts etc.

I also recommend going to the Waterloo Arms pub which does very good food and local ale.

Stayed at Temple Lodge for 3 nights in July.

We had a large double bedroom at the rear of the house. It was lovely and big and very clean with extremely comfortable bed. Very big bathroom with nice shower and the room even had a little mini bar with Pringles/Cadbury's/Beer/Wine/Soft Drinks all at very reasonable prices (i.e. same as you would pay in any bar in Lyndhurst).

The owners, Mike and Teresa, are very friendly and do a beautiful cooked breakfast. They even cater for veggies and did me Linda McCartney sausages every day. Everything is grilled so not greasy. Plus good choice of cereals etc. They are really sweet and do go out of their way to help you.

It is a good location (just 3 mins walk to local village).

La Pergola (Italian restaurant) is just a couple of doors down. They do good food. Make sure you book a table though coz were busy and we couldn't get in until after 8.30pm.

Fox and Hounds is a nice pub in centre of Lyndhurst village (in front of the public car park)

Only drawback about Lyndhurst is the perpetual traffic going through the main streets. It was a nightmare!! Really ruined a very pretty English village. It is a shame they don't have some sort of other road going around it so that traffic doesn't have to pass through on the way to other destinations but I suppose being the New Forest they are limited on that!

Good trips to go on are the Canoeing (Liquid Logistics) down near Beaulieu and we also hired bikes (from Cycle Xperience at Brockenhurst - although these are slightly more expensive than the ones in Lyndhurst they were much better quality in our opinion)

  • Liked — The mini bar!!!
  • Disliked — The traffic noise throughout the village
  • Tips/Secrets: — Choose a back room that doesn't overlook the road if you can
