“A Peaceful Place.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 23, 2013

Overnight in Winchester we got fed up with Traffic Chaos and ventured up to Romsey for an hour.
In the back of my mind I knew Romsey was significant in recent History. A few minutes standing quietly by Earl Mountbatten's grave and it all came back to me. What a beautiful, quiet place to rest. A contrast to Winchester earlier in the day so we spent more time in this venerable building than we planned. Not wasted, it is a national treasure.

“wedding place”

Cool inside when 30C outside. We were there for a wedding, and it felt was intiimate despite public being allowed in during service.

“Well worth a detour”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 4, 2013

Well worth dropping in to the abbey if you're passing - it's bigger than you'd expect for a town the size of Romsey, and has enough interest for a few minutes' diversion. It's nicely sited near the mills too, so can form part of a walk around Romsey.

“The ancient Abbey”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 30, 2013

The history of this Abbey is fascinating, it is over 1,000 years' old & is our Parish Church, at the centre of the community. It has a wonderful feel to it & is truly a place of beauty & worship. Do get a guide book, or a guide, as so much of interest can be missed.
