Paulton's, aka Chessington Junior, is great and Peppa Pig World is perfect for children of a certain age. I would recommend getting there for gates open and then making a dash for Peppa World to allow at least two turns on the rides before it gets busy. Or visit on a wet or cold day and the attrition rate kicks in around lunchtime, by 2pm we had the place to ourselves, despite the 2C temperatures.
The disappointment really lies with the newly heralded 4D cinema experience - in a nutshell the Curse of the Black Pearl is poor and could have been created by a 2nd year graphics student. The entrance is pitifully understated and the staff lacked enthusiasm. Having waited a few minutes a graphical usher appears and bores you into submission, rattling on for far too long without being informative or entertaining. And then the cinema experience. Yes, you get a bit of spray, a blast or two of air in your face and the seat tips back once or twice but it was all terribly uncoordinated, like the visuals and effects were out of sync. That's too easy an excuse though because quite frankly it was rubbish, and not even the kids were that amazed. The 3D is nothing inventive and the 4D needs serious work to be anything special. Maybe a different film will yield more satisfactory results but the current pirate film is poor.
Don't stay indoors though, get out and explore the park, there's plenty to do, but take a picnic!
