“Good deal good room”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 21, 2012 via mobile

Spent the weekend here. Clean room. the floors are thin so could hear movement upstairs, also the breakfast was not great nor worth the money. But if you are looking for a clean room good location I would recommend this.

We stayed here for 4 nights over the last week. The room was spotless and all areas also. The quality of the room was great, lovely comfortable bed, nice big tv on swivel plate so could be seen anywhere in the room. All tea and coffee faciliteis as standard. The lady on reception when we booked in was more than helpfull she is a credit to the chain very professional and polite. The other handy thing is the pub adjoined by a double door to the accomodation so brekkie, lunch or tea on site or even just a drink. I must say i use to use travelodge previously because of the cost being slightly less. Now i wont use them again and its premier inn everytime im away. One only downside which is if your a couple and you use their wifi facility you can only use one wireless item at once. We soon worked around this by sharing the time so one watched the tv whilst the other did something else. All in all well done premier inn petersfield and the lady who welcomed us and the other lady who explained the wifi issue A1

Room Tip: If your a light sleeper ask for a room away from the road although i found our roadside room was fin...

First the good points:-

I had a really spacious clean room (room 204), with a big & very comfortable bed with excellent quality bed linen. The room was well appointed with everything a guest might need apart from a safe, which I would have found useful. The bathroom was also large & very clean, although a little extra lighting (esp over the mirror) would have been welcomed. The staff were all friendly and helpful, however I did have to wait several minutes each time at reception as it didn't appear to be staffed 24 hours a day, which isn't very helpful when you're in a rush.

The main downside was the noise. I checked into the hotel late at night after a very long & tiring journey, and went straight to bed - not realising that right outside my window was a busy 24-hour filling station, McDonalds, etc, and a really busy main road. As a result I was woken repeatedly throughout the night, and by 6am the noise from the road was so great I gave up trying to sleep. I felt quite annoyed that I hadn't been advised of the potential for noise at check-in and given the opportunity to ask for a quieter room, especially as I am quite a light sleeper. When I needed to check out there was no-one on reception to ask about their 'Good Night' guarantee and I couldn't wait as I had a taxi waiting & a train to catch. It was a shame about the noise, as otherwise I'd have had a good night's sleep as the bed was really comfortable!

The other negative point was that shower in my room had really poor water pressure, which also wavered meaning the temperature went up & down too. The poor shower pressure was exacerbated by the fact that the shower head height was fixed for someone around 6ft tall (ie. a foot taller than me) so by the time the water reached me it had less impact than the rain outside! It was quite hard to wash shampoo out of my hair.

In terms of value-for-money, I thought this was a little on the pricey side for Premier Inns - I've had better nights' sleep for less money in other locations. But that may be due to the location, and the fact that there is almost no other hotel/B&B competition in Petersfield.

Room Tip: Rooms on the front face the main road & busy services - if you're a light sleeper ask for a...

Room was fine - dining room was very nice and all part of the hotel, which they often aren't. Staff were cheery and helpful. For us, the only downside was the nearness of the A3 but there's nothing they can do about that. The fact that M&S, Mcdonald's and a petrol station were extremely close would be a bonus to many , but we ate in the hotel and don't have a car.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the other side of the hotel to the A3!

Great hardworking attentive staff but room let it down.
Weak pressure from shower - barely enough pressure to wash your hair, and I'm bald!
Terrible wifi reception in room 50, plus it doesn't automatically reconnect which is a pain.
Apart from that, top breakfast and a comfy bed.

Easy to book over the internet and nice and clean to stay in with lovely/facilities all around including a petrol station and M&S - great!!
The only drawbacks that i experienced were - slightly creaky floors on the ground level maybe due to the newness of the inn and being just off the main Winchester Road i found it a bit tight to turn into and as with the other Premier Inn at Bedhampton was not the easiest to find as i don't have satnav in my car.
I suggest that better directions are given in the advertising and also better arrows/indications to follow - perhaps some signs on the immediate roundabout to show drivers where to pull off the main road.
Apart from these points all was well and very enjoyable and good value for money.

Room Tip: Higher floors may not have a creaky floor

A visit to the 'Goodwood Revival' prompted us to choose the Premier Inn in preference to other hotels in and around the Midhurst , Petersfield , Chichester area. All hotels close to Goodwood appear to highly inflate their room rates at this time and the Premier Inn's prices , whilst probably well above their normal rates, came nowhere near to some extortionately priced rooms elsewhere.

The choice was an acceptable one. Our first visit to a Premier Inn and probably not our last. The room was spacious, clean and had all facilities which might be needed for a single or two night stopover. We do like our luxuries but this provided a more than adequate night's stay for the Revival.

This particular hotel is not without negatives however and reading other Tripadvisor reviews I'm not sure that premier's Guarantee would compensate, so no claim was made. The perception of a comfortable night does depend on the individual so one persons problems might be another's niggle. I sleep easily and my hearing is not the best so I fared well. My wife hears every noise made so got only two or three hours sleep. She often woke me to make me aware of this! The noisy cars, the noisy fan on in another room, etc.

Dealing with the positives first, the rooms are :
• Clean
• Spacious
• Have all the facilities required for a short stopover break
• Friendly and efficient staff

The negatives for this venue are:

• Rooms facing the A3 to A272 pick up traffic noise throughout the day / night making window opening a definite no no. The noise is also audible with the window closed.
• Foot traffic in the upper rooms is audible in the lower rooms
• All flooring in the ground floor rooms and access corridors squeaked continuously due to the poor construction of the floor.
• The bathroom extractor fans are very noisy and those in neighbouring rooms are audible, particularly during the night. On our visit one fan was left continuously running in one room suggesting that the occupant had not switched the bathroom light off ( noiseless Passivents are available without motors so why on earth weren't these installed).

The restaurant area and outside decked area were quite appealing and whilst not eating dinner in the restaurant ( we chose to eat dinner at a nearby restaurant) the breakfast was plentiful, well cooked and the ingredients were of good quality. Not sure that the cornflakes were Kellogg's though and the coffee was decanted from an urn rather than the freshly prepared 'Costa' variety who's logo is displayed on the breakfast menu. A request for a Costa cappuccino for my wife however was met without additional charge.

All in all then an experience that would not completely put us off in the future, maybe with a stress that we would require a room away from the road and a first floor room. Other than that the noise issue might be dealt with by the use of good ear plugs.

Room Tip: Choose away from A3 and on first floor
