Nyewood Cottage is perfectly located in New Milton, a short drive from the sea front in a quiet residential part of town. The house itself, with offroad parking, is a lovely home and has been awarded four stars (Aug 2007).
Having stayed there for three nights at the end of August, I can definitely see why it has been awarded four stars. Firstly the owner is warm and welcoming, and the house itself is beautifully decorated and has a lovely homely feel to it.
We stayed in the twin room with an ensuite. The room is small, with not a lot of spare room for suitcases or luggage, and the ensuite bathroom is very small but perfectly appointed. There are lovely touches which more than make up for the lack of space. Tea and coffee, little cartons of juice, biscuits and a useful bottle-opener are all in the room and replensished daily. Towels (including a facecloth) are arranged beautifully on the bed on your arrival. Woods of Windsor toiletries are in the bathroom and the whole room is beautifully clean.
Breakfasts are fabulous! A multitude of cereals to choose from , with a jug of juice on the table (not the piddling single glass you get in some lesser establishments) and grapefruit segments on the table for starters. Then the option of a cooked breakfast, perfectly cooked and steaming hot every morning (veggie options available too) with lots of toast and tea or coffee which is replenished if you wish.
All in all, a thoroughly lovely stay and highty recommended as a base for exploring the coast or the New Forest.
