“Ahead by a long way as a Wedding Venue”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 8, 2010

Chewton Glen was the venue for our wedding this weekend, and we could not have chosen a finer hotel. For us, it retained a uniquely personal feel that so many hotels lack and the staff were, without exception, the most proficient, discrete and dignified I think I have ever expeienced in all my worldwide travel. Of course, any hotel will pull out all the stops for a wedding party, but the attention to detail astounded us, even laying out soft toys, treats and mini gowns and slippers for the young girls in our wedding party to make them feel special too! Most if not all the rooms were upgraded and the kitchen coped incredibly well with our unexpectedly long speeches. Sincere complements to the chef and team who served our party the full 'Menu Gourmand' of seven courses with faultless efficiency and quality.

When we first began a shortlist of hotel venues, we thought Chewton Glen may prove a little pretentious and indiscrete, given all the Bentleys and Maserati's in the car park! However, we could not be more wrong as throughout we have had a warm welcome, total flexibility on the format and our requirements and a friendly, genuine demeanour from everyone.

All this in beautiful rolling grounds well away from any hint of the hubbub of daily life, yet conveniently located and close to the beach for even more wedding photo opportunities!

Congratulations Chewton Glen, in our case at least you deserve the praise.

I've read loads of good stuff about Chewton Glen over the years and we certainly weren't disappointed. The facilites are as you would expect great, food just right - proper food, not too fussy (free for under fives). We had a duplex suite which worked well with the kids although it was a shame that there wasn't any view. The highlight for us was the staff who are all great - hightlight for the kids was the new treehouse and the snowman on the croquet lawn. Can't wait to try the place in the summer to make the most of the outdoor pool, terraces and local beaches.

My husband and I were after a late getaway, and after reading the recent reviews thought that this definately was the place for us. Maybe the rave reviews along with the high end nightly rate caused me to have great expectations, but we found it to be a pleasant but not exceptional experience.
The best parts - the food and the spa.
The worst part - the room (poorly lit, could barely see in the mirror to dry my hair with the cheap hairdryer, and none of the "ladies touches" in the bathroom such as cotton pads, cotton buds etc. that I would normally expect as standard from an Hotel of this calibre).
It probably wasn't the best time of year to visit but it's unlikely that we will give it another try.

Many thanks for making our stay so pleasant. From the really comfortably room to the sublime food from the Michelin Star Restaurant. The high standard of the facilities is complimented by the large swimming pool and spa, We are looking forward to returning as soon as we can.

Nothing comes close to the level of the service you receive here. All the extra little touches (including the staff remembering your name) add to up to make this the best UK hotel in my opinion.

The food is simply stunning - the cheese trolley the highlight - well worthy of the hype.

I have chosen to deliberately not go there on a regular basis, not because of the significant cost, but to keep this place special. I hope I always get the same wow factor when I stay in the future. To be reserved for special occasions.

Possibly the best hotel that I've stayed in within the British Isles. The staff's attention to detail is amazing and the spa is heavenly. The restaurant is also definitely worth a visit. Although we paid for a bronze room, we were unexpectedly upgraded to a silver room which was lush.
