“Very good again.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 3, 2013

This is the second time we've stayed at Chewto Glen and once again it was very good. Arrived about 3.00 and were told our room wasn't ready which was a bit of a surprise but no problem as we had a drink and a nice Dorset Cream Tea. (Not sure why it's Dorset as hotel is in Hampshire!)

Were old that as we'd had to wait we would get a room upgrade which was't actually true as it was the same room number we'd been told on arrival, but never mind!

Food is good but expensive and the only down side of the restaurant was that the wine waiter clearly thought that as we'd only bought a comparatively cheap bottle of wine we weren't worth his attention in topping up our glasses, hence we only rate it as good not excellent!

Spent the weekend of 28th to 30th June at this wonderful hotel! Before I get into the bones of the experience, the one positive thing that stood out the entire trip were the 'staff'!! They just couldn't do enough for us and without question, they make anytime spent at this beautiful hotel a personal and wonderful experience!
We originally booked a silver room and were upgraded via our American Express booking to a junior suite. The room was gorgeous, very well laid out with pleanty of closet space. Lovely bathroom with seperate tub/shower with three TVs, one each in the bedroom area, the sitting room area and the bathroom. Two small balconies overlooking the grounds, one with furniture on completed the room. Two small criticisms however, the outside balcony and surrounding woodwork needs some serious redecorating work done to it and with two very difficult steps to navigate from room to balcony you need to be very careful not to trip and fall! I did fall and only with luck did I not twist/break my ankle. Apart from grazing on my leg, no harm done though.
Food was excellent throughout the trip, we ate dinner both nights in the hotel and cocktails were great in the bar! We were very lucky with the weather on the Saturday so much so that we walked down through 'Chewton Bunny' to the lovely beach/coastline in the morning and spent the rest of the day by their lovely outside swimming pool!
It is the little extras that help to make this hotel so special, the lovely present on your bed on the first night, the half bottle of champagne in your room when you arrive, the amazing information they give you on check in, the offer of bottled water to take with you on your journey home etc. We were fortunate to meet some people who were staying in a treehouse so we got to see one. Not for me, too remote and isolated, but if that is what you seek they are really stunning! All in all a great weekend and my sincere thanks to everyone who played a part in looking after us.

Room Tip: Were on the second floor a fair walk from the main restaurant, bar area. A room nearer to these faci...

I was having my birthday lunch at this hotel,as we usually use it for special occasions, and once again we were not disappointed with the service, the staff are very efficient and everything runs smoothly.
Also I had ordered a sweet, and forgot that they serve an individual small birthday cake to you with 1 candle on,which is a lovley touch.(and I managed to eat it all as well)
The grounds and gardens are lovely and very restfull.
I can also say thay the cream teas they serve are out of this world

Yes it was expensive but being in a normal hotel room instead of the treehouse just wouldn't have been the same. So peaceful and secluded. Loved getting our breakfast delivered every morning. Gym was good as was the spa. Vertier; the service was slightly lacking but the food excellent. An excellent birthday gift from my other half.

As arrived we were greeted by to cheerful staff and immediately showed to our table for an afternoon sitting of 6 people. Lovely relaxed atmosphere and wonderful view outside in the garden despite the slightly windy, showery weather! What a fabulous surprise treat for an 80yr old birthday lady. Lovely tea and cakes and a lovely afternoon in the heart of the forest!

Dear Reviewer

It was a pleasure to read your review following your recent visit to Chewton Glen for afternoon tea.

We were delighted to hear just how much the birthday lady enjoyed the surprise and I am glad that the unseasonal weather didn't put a dampener on the celebrations!

We look forward to seeing you again very soon.

With kind regards,

This was an amazing experience in the New Forest. The service is top notch, with an excellent sommelier, wait staff and concierge. We had a great time experiencing falconry, duck herding ,as well as horseback riding. Our favorite activity was enjoying the lovely English weather(it was beautiful all 5 days we were there), and walking the shaded trails around the property and the path to the beach.
The highlight of our trip was the amazing new treehouse suites. We had 2 rooms-one whole treehouse. My youngest loved the loft, filled with books, bean bags, and a large tv. Be careful coming down!
The bathrooms were luxurious, with heated floors, amenities, and double headed shower. The large egg shaped bath overlooked the wild flower filled meadow. My teenagers loved the hot tub, and the fresh cookies left each day! We love spending time in our rooms:)
I had a manicure in the spa, which seemed very nice and was full the day I was there.
This is a lovely resort that wants the best for their guests-enjoy!

Room Tip: Tree houses-for sure!

I stayed at this hotel for a couple of nights over a Sunday and Monday. You will not find a better run hotel anywhere in the UK. Whilst being true to it's 5 star rating in regards to the luxuriousness and service, they achieve a brilliant balance of formal/ informal...none of that awkward stuffiness often found at English country house hotels.

The attention to detail in the bedrooms is impeccable- the beds are so comfortable and the furnishings are all modernised but full of charm. The bathrooms are first rate- it's evident they have given a great deal of thought to these (everything works with power showers, good pressure from the taps, fluffy towels, considered lighting).

the restaurant has greatly improved with it's service, and the wine team are fantastic. room service too was prompt, and even re-fills of coffee with breakfast in bed arrived within minutes.

i work in the business and would be the first to find fault if there was any, but honestly it's pretty much perfect.
