“A pub, done well!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 8, 2013

This pub is just a pub, and the fact that it is trying to be nothing else makes it a great pub selling fantastic pub food with a good range of real ales to accompany your meal.

I had the chilli con carne, which was prepared to perfection with a range of deep flavours, spiced conservatively, but hot enough to make it enjoyable without being too hot to dissuade those who hate very hot food.

My colleague had the pie, which he enjoyed, and also swears by the sausage and mash. The menu had a good range of classic dishes and the specials board was tempting too.

The staff were extremely welcoming and the atmosphere friendly.

“Excellent specials, great service, friendly pub”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 1, 2013 via mobile

Really surprised by some of the "average" reviews on here. My husband and I eat here once a week - the changing specials keep it interesting and are always more than "pub menu" food.

I had a perfectly cooked whole seabass just this Sunday, my husband a large duck breast in a gorgeous fruit sauce. Good value for the portion size.

Service at the table in the rear room, always prompt, and always encouraging a dessert (we need very little persuading!).

Only tiny suggestion is some more variety on the desserts and cheese side of things, but this is splitting hairs.

Definitely now a regular diner!

“A real Treat”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 16, 2013 via mobile

This was the best pub meal that I have had in a very long time. The service was very good and very friendly. My lamb rump with rosemary gravy was quite delicious and the vegetables freshly cooked, not microwaved and soggy. My husband's steak was tender and cooked to perfection. In all it was extremely good value for money and I would definitely eat there again.

“Distinctly average!!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed February 10, 2013

This pub/restaurant is reasonably local to me so I thought I should give it another try having eaten here once before under the current management. Popped along one Saturday for lunch a few weeks ago. I have to agree with earlier reviews that it is decidedly average and it is confusing as to why it gets such high reviews. It is tired and needs a freshen up to say the least. Lots of cobwebs. The barmaid was very friendly but generally I noticed that the staff were more interested in chatting amongst themselves that serving customers. The Cottage Pie my partner had was advertised as coming with a jug of gravy! It was absent. I had a noodle dish with chicken that oddly was accompanied with a side salad. The salad was undressed and looked most unappetising! The chicken and noodles, very average with overdone chicken. There is an abundance of eateries in Fleet , most of them leave a lot to be desired. This is one of them. It is hard to find but there is much better food to be had elsewhere locally.

“A great venue to hire for a party, out back there is a Après Ski type barn”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 20, 2013 via mobile

We attended a friends 40th and having driven past it 100's of times but never been in didn't know what to expect.

At the rear of the pub is a party barn that you can hire and it really good for a mid size party.

Oak beams, roaring open fire, dance floor and terraced seating area all give it that " your back in Courchevel" feel.

Didn't eat but there was plenty of people in the pub doing so.

Great helpful staff and a good location.

Check it out if your after a different venue for your birthday party.
