This pub is just a pub, and the fact that it is trying to be nothing else makes it a great pub selling fantastic pub food with a good range of real ales to accompany your meal.
I had the chilli con carne, which was prepared to perfection with a range of deep flavours, spiced conservatively, but hot enough to make it enjoyable without being too hot to dissuade those who hate very hot food.
My colleague had the pie, which he enjoyed, and also swears by the sausage and mash. The menu had a good range of classic dishes and the specials board was tempting too.
The staff were extremely welcoming and the atmosphere friendly.
