“Lunch for two with Travel Zoo”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 22, 2013 via mobile

We went for lunch using the travel zoo voucher. The deal was £25 for 2 course dinner with a wine/beer for two. I have to say the main course we both had the roasted chicken with chips and tarragon sauce and it was very nice, although the portion was small it was fine for a lunch. The real let down was the appalling service, it took them 15 minutes to ask what we would like to drink. There were only three waiting staff. One of the waitresses was just awful, she walked straight past the tables and didn't even look at anyone to see if they needed any help. There were us and three other tables waiting for service and she just ignored us all. She was obviously only interested in serving her own tables. The waiter that served us was friendly but he was doing so many tables alone it took forever to get served. The tiramisu for dessert was not great, it was just a whole load of very thick cream with some sponge biscuits in the bottom but no flavour. The chef should really taste it and look at redoing the recipe there. The value with the travel zoo voucher was very good but I won't be returning and paying full price for it. Such a shame as it has so much potential, they need to hire more staff, including another chef and then I think it could be more successful.

“ok but nothing special”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 18, 2013

Stayed at the hotel for 2 nights and after the first night we found a local Nepalese restaurant to eat.
The food was ok but the 2 girls waiting the tables were pretty glum to say the least. In fact 1 of them was quite rude, no smiles or just simply good manners. My son who works in customer service commented on both of them and said " I don't think they have been trained properly". The breakfast staff and bar staff were lovely, its a shame that we had to seek a restaurant outside of The Village to enjoy a celebration meal the following night but to our advantage we had a super night!

“Friday evening”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 13, 2013

Dinner was ok - wished we had ate in the pub restaurant as bottles of prosecco were £15 and they did not do prosecco per the glass in the restaurant! A glass of wine was £7 which was pretty high

“Terrible! Won't be back.”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed July 24, 2013

Having visited this pub/restaurant some time ago and having had a bad experience then I nevertheless thought I would give it a second chance. What a miistake. Went with a party of 5 for midweek lunch. First there was no bitter on tap at all (it's supposed to be a pub!). Then we ordered 4 burgers, 1 steak sandwich and 2 sides of onion rings. The burgers were ok but nothng special, the onion rings were burnt and swimming in grease, the steak was very tough and inedible, but worst of all was the coleslaw that came as a garnish. It was 'off' and tatsed 'fizzy'. A sure sign of poor kitchen practices. I complained to the staff and all they did was say 'oh we'll tell the main kitchen'. Nothing else was offered. Didn't risk dessert after that. Just wanted to get out.
