“Lovely views, shame about the food.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 17, 2013

Food is nothing special, often disappointing. Trouble is the chain doesn't have to try as The Solent is right on its doorstep so customers go for views. Could be such a better experience if food was tastier, and well cooked.

“Over-rated”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed January 3, 2013

The location is great with lovely views. It's always busy so was expecting something good. Found the food to be quite mediocre and expensive for what it was.

“Busy, Buzzing Place”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 1, 2013

We had New Year's Day lunch here.
We had our two dogs with us - in the dog friendly area.
The place was buzzing and packed.
Excellent booking and I assume the lovely young lady at front of the house was the manageress - as she was everywhere trying to plug the gaps..
The drinks were fantastic.
The food was glorious; Only gripe was the cold custard with the dessert.
Yes the food took too long to order.
Yes the drinks took too long to arrive.
Yes the place needs additional staff.
But it was New Year's Day, it was a beautiful day, the staff were trying their best - so there was no need for some of the miserable and rude behaviour we saw from some of our fellow patrons.

“Post Christmas Meal”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 29, 2012 via mobile

We went to here on the 27th for a lunch on our way to taking my parents back to the airport. On the plus side, the good was good and plentiful and the waiting staff were very polite and friendly. We like Woodhouse and Hall pubs and have used the Ship Inn and Smugglers Inn in Dorset a lot, so had high expectations

The pub was very busy for a Friday lunchtime and they may have had staffing problem with it being so close to Christmas but there were a few issues. It took over half an hour from ordering to our food being served and the tables were far too close together do that we were constantly banging chairs with the table behind.

Hopeful this was a one off busy lunchtime as we have been here before and been very impressed. The view across the Solent is great, so if you do book, try and get a window seat.

“Christmas Day Lunch 25th Dec 2012 (Not Again Next Year!)”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 26, 2012

We decided for the first time (43 Years) not to have the traditional home Christmas Cooking. It would be nice to give my lovely wife the treat and to save all the hard work. My order was the same Sunday Lunch I had a few weeks earlier at this place!!! Beef (not tender) 3 small roast potatoes, half sliced under cooked carrot some red cabbage, a large cold Yorkshire pud. That folks was what this place called a Christmas Lunch. So so disappointed, I did not complain for a number of reasons, mainly did not want to spoil the day for my wife and our friend that we took along as well. The bill came to well over £150 with drinks (tea and coffee included!!) I will visit them soon, but not to eat there, just to get this bitter taste out of my mouth of being robbed!!
