“Brief stop but extremely pleasant”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 8, 2012

Stayed here for one night for a business trip in November. Can't fault the hotel; extremely efficient and pleasant, the room was clean and everything you'd expect. Check-in and -out were very rapid and overall it was excellent value for money.

Literally cannot believe this property is a Holiday Inn. It could just as easily pass as a much higher-end hotel range.

The finish to the rooms is brilliant, and they are well sized with beautiful ensuite bathrooms. The main concern with the rooms was noise from the other rooms. I was in an adjoining room and I could hear TV noise from the adjoining room on the first night. Despite chapping on both doors the noise continued. It can be annoying as the doors obviously do not isolate noise well and the televsions point kind of straight at them, so my advice would be to avoid adjoining rooms.

The gym seems decent, and the breakfasts are nicely laid out but busy busy busy as this is a large hotel with a heavy footfall.

I'd definitely stay here again. Rooms are clean and comfortable and whilst it's not quite a Radisson Blu for business visits, it's pretty damn close. If you're here for BBC work, theres no better situated hotel.

Room Tip: Avoid Adjoining rooms and attempt to be on floor 12, as floor 8 is the first floor and 12 is the las...

Stayed here for one night in November 2012. Hotel is generally excellent, although the beds were a bit hard. Be careful when parking as you will be charged everytime you leave the hotel as it is pay & display

We stayed here on new years eve because we had tickets to old trafford that day.

The hotel was in an excellent location, it was only about 15 minutes walk to old trafford, 5 minutes from salford quays and right next door to booths.

The room was spacious, modern and clean, definitely nicer than some more expensive hotels I have stayed in previously. There was also a desk right by a big mirror, hair dryer and several sockets which was perfect for me to get ready! I would also imagine that this would be convenient if you were staying here for work purposes. The view was also great because we could see the whole of salford, which was particularly amazing at midnight when all of the new year fireworks went off.

The bathroom was immaculate and spacious, with very nice shower gel! The whole room and bathroom looked newly rennovated.

The breakfast was brilliant, everything you could ask for was prepared. I really enjoyed my stay here and would definitely return.

Especially for the price, this was a great stay. Staff were friendly and professional. The Wifi was not just included but reasonably capable. The room and bed were comfortable and quite clean. I could find some things to grumble about, namely:

* What is with the floors that squeak in new construction. Really they should be more solid. Not something especially fixable, though.

* Amazing amount of noise in the bathroom. Not sure what from. Maybe it was service carts over my room or something? Anyway, it didn't bother me--the bathroom door & walls were thick enough for it not to come through.

* While we are at it--bathroom lighting was too dim.

* The tub height was strange, but tubs are all strange in the UK :). It meant being careful when bleary eyed in the morning so as not to end up sprawled on the floor.

* Would be nice if they just had a simple fridge. There is a fine market conveniently right outside the front door for buying supplies. I know they are trying to drive mini-bar use, but just charge more for the room and give us a mini-fridge.

* Check-out could have been quicker.

Those, however, are all minor complaints for what is otherwise a very well situated, comfortable hotel. Definitely recommended.

Lovely new hotel, and very convenient for the Lowry Theatre. Stayed for two nights, the second one had little sleep due to the people in the next room havinga a party! Night duty manager had security talk to them, but matter not resolved.
We only found out that the Green Room restaurant was not open when we went down to have dinner. We were told that it was not open as there was not enough business. This was not mentioned when we checked in, but what sought of hotel that has a four star rating just shuts their restaurant! We were told that we could have a meal in the bar area. This bar is clearly just another BBC club, so no thank you.
Fortunately, good restaurants a plenty very near by.
How is it, that every new hotel has lousy bathroom lighting? This hotel lives up to the norm, so ladies have no chance of putting on their make-up.Hotel has some of the slowest lifts I have ever been in.
Good value and nice bed.Local parking a bit expensive.

Room Tip: Go for a high room for great views.

This is a very nice hotel as it is a holiday inn. Obviously being on media city it is still quite new so weather they keep up with it and keep it looking nice will be found out in a few years time.
The rooms and reception area were all very clean.
I think it is abit ridiculous that we got charged a £50 deposit when checking in. Why not just charge the full amount for the room on arrival like most hotels do?
Also think it is ridiculous that breakfast is not included but that is just a holiday inn thing.

On arrival we were checked inn by the manager on duty at the time. As we had just come from working at media city, my partner had his media city lanyard around his neck with his pass clearly showing. However the manager on duty failed to tell us anything about the reduced rate for staff at media city and continued to charge us full charge for the room. When we asked about this in the morning this was changed, however this should not of happened in the first place.

Also on checkout i was not told about a reduced rate of car parking so had to pay the full amount for a 24 hour stay on the car park.

I think some staff training is in need before this hotel goes drastically down hill.
