“Not worth the money!!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed February 23, 2014

Tried this restaurant tonight, granted we was a party of 12 however we had to wait nearly an hour to get our food. The restaurant only had one other couple in (who ironically came in after us and got served before us!) so the wait couldn't be put down to being busy. When the food arrived the Yorkshire puddings on the roast dinners came all burnt! The roast potatoes was also hard and most didn't get eaten. We had 4 children in our party who by the time got their food was tired and really didn't want to eat. They have no children's menu so we had to pay full price for gammon for a 6 year old which was far to big for her. The restaurant was cold and most of the party sat with coats on.
Wouldn't go back here until they sort out the issues.. Very disappointed - with a £155 bill it was not worth the money!!!

“Superb service and excellent food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 21, 2014

Went here with a friend we were visiting. She chose the venue having been there a few years ago. The food was really good and well priced. The service was good but this was hardly surprising as there was only one other couple when we arrived and one other party of three arrived during our meal. It could have been warmer in there we were a bit chilly. Nice music but so quiet on a Saturday night

“Big change for the better”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 20, 2014

After a decline in food and drink standards we gave The Gunn a swerve and frequented other options in the area but decided to give it another try. What a change - great welcome (thank you Alex) really quality food - you simply must try the home made cheese pie and chunky chips! and if you are a cask ale drinker what better than a pint of Dirty Tackle, perfectly kept.
The Gun seems to be back in business, certainly worth the visit.

“Opening Times?”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed February 5, 2014

Just having arrived from down under we wanted to visit the Pub that we used to frequent some 40 years ago. We arrived at 11.45am it was rainy and cold. One of the Chefs was letting in a staff member and he asked us to come back at opening time at noon.
We came back at 12.20pm but the doors were locked, we tried the restaurant and the main entrance to no avail'. We tried for about 5 mins.
We ended up (somewhat disappointed), nevertheless we went to the Rising Moon, another former haunt. Great food and excellent service at that Pub but really wish someone could have opened the doors at the Gun!

“Great good, needs a bit more life.....”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 5, 2014 via mobile

1st visit as this is half way for friends & I. Great location, good service (albeit a nervous server) and good food. The one thing that let it down badly was the atmosphere - it was deathly quiet with music on for seconds ( it then when off) and you could hear a pin drop. You could certainly hear other people's conversations which isn't great. This has lots of potential with the right atmosphere but we will return. We had fish & chips & as a starter a couple had the whitebait (which in my opinion should be battered) but the Sunday lunch looks lovely!!
