This has got to be one of the best b&bs that my husband and I have stayed in. The location is perfect for exploring the gorgeous countryside and you can walk straight up into the woods from the front door. The attention to detail at Deanfield is second to none. The bedrooms are spotlessly clean. The beds are extremely comfortable with Egyptian cotton bedding. The room we were in had a "wet room" en suite. Breakfast was more than enough to keep us going till late afternoon and beautifully cooked and presented in a lovely peaceful dining room. The owners Chris and Nigel were so friendly and welcoming, nothing was too much trouble. There is also a friendly pub, which serves delicious food 5min walk away. All on all pretty perfect, can't wait to go back!

I can't think of anything I would improve about Deanfield. It is situated in Parkend within easy walking distance of pubs and station. Ample car parking. A warm welcome was received from Chris the owner and she could not do enough to help us during our stay, even offering to dry our clothes when we got caught in a downpour. The breakfast was gorgeous and there was lots of choice. The room was spotlessly clean and very nice and comfortable. Would definitely go there again. Try Whitemead Forest Park for meals, it is a Center Parcs type of place but non-residents can use the restaurant and bar. Also the Speech House pub is a short drive away and did really good food in pleasant surroundings. You can get on the steam train from the station in Parkend. Puzzlewood was amazing, even if you don't have children it is worth a visit as it is such a magical place. If you visit Symonds Yat East park up at the viewpoint and walk down, it is easier than negotiating the single track road.

It is the attention to detail that marks out any hotel or B+B as special. At Deanfield we were invited into a cosy sitting room with log burning stove and were served with tea and very good quality biscuits. Newspaper and magazines were provided and there was television if we had wanted it. Perfect after a long journey and a chance to relax before visiting relatives in the village. Our room was beautifully clean and the bed was really comfortable. Good quality bed-linen and fluffy white towels. The bathroom had a very spacious walk-in shower and everything was spotless. Toiletries were of high quality and all sorts of little extras were supplied including cotton wool pads, q-tips emery board and shower cap, along with soaps and body lotion shower body and hair wash and liquid hand wash.. Well stocked tray for tea, coffee, Horlicks, hot chocolate and again really good biscuits. There was a sheet to fill out for the next day's breakfast with all sorts of options including smoked salmon and scrambled eggs, kippers, every variation of a 'full English' and also vegetarian options..The breakfast room was really nice with proper linen tablecloths and napkins and even fresh flowers on the tables. Our newspapers were delivered to our room just after 7am (we are early risers).Fruit, cereals etc. were available to have before the main course and extra tea and toast if required after the main course. We also had a good meal in the Woodman Pub which is two doors along the road. We had a front door key and could come and go as we pleased. The family Chris, Nigel and their daughter are really friendly and they do an excellent job . A first class place to stay!

Were welcomed by Chris, our host who as previously stated is warm but professional. We were shown our lovely room and given a few bits of information before we had to rush to get changed and meet friends for a meal. This b&b oozes quality from the M&S mugs on the hospitality tray which are alongside the wine glasses so no need to use the glasses from the bathroom for our drinks even it they were only flavoured water to the impressive walk in shower. The breakfast room was lovely with tablecloths that gave it a classy feeling. The choice of food for breakfast was good and varied. Finishing touches were the order of the day. You were made to feel special as I was when I asked for a mug with my pot of tea on the first morning and was touched to find it waiting for me when we came down on the 2nd morning! This is what I call a personal touch that you don't often find. Wifi was also good and useful especially as we both got no reception on our mobiles. Only a couple of little things that we found unusual, the bathroom window did not have frosted glass just a roller blind, but as window was behind the toilet you felt like you had to keep blind down! Also biscuits were provided but just one pack between 2 people which we have never had before. Nothing major but just a few observations on an overall perfect break.

Chris is a warm but professional host and we thoroughly enjoyed our four night break in the main house. It is some time since we last b&b'd and being able to come and go as we pleased during our stay (via issue of front door key) was an added bonus. Highly recommended

Room Tip: Rooms 1&2 have upgraded en-suites but 3&4 have views over the village green
