“GREAT HOTEL”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 5, 2011

We organised a group visit to this hotel over the holiday weekend,29th April-2nd May, filling all the rooms, and taking in two restaurant meals on the Friday and Sunday night. We (two couples who organised ) also visited prior, staying overnight on one occasion.

We can state unreservedly, that from the first point of contact to the time we left, the whole experience was first class. The staff were attentive, friendly and very efficient. All the rooms were clean and extremely comfortable. Both restaurant areas, the lounge and bar areas were delightful, and the quality of the food outstanding-especially given the `full-house` size of our charity event party. Attractive gardens and seating areas were on hand for us to sit, chat, and drink at, and there was ample room on the car park for all our cars.Owners Hari and Colin provided a professional and welcoming presence, and were always on hand to deal effectively with any issues.

We have long experience of organising such events, and know to our cost that hotels don`t always live up to their billing. This one certainly did ! In summary, it provided an outstanding venue for our visit to such a beautiful and peaceful part of the country. We would unhesitatingly recommend it as a base for those wishing for a quiet stay, or for larger groups like ourselves.

We are grateful that we found Tudorfarmhouse, and were able to use it as our base for our weekend.

Thank you to all the staff at the Tudor Farmhouse Hotel for making our 3 night visit to The Forest of Dean an enjoyable experience. We stayed in the cheapest room category in the former barn. Our room was perfect, clean with the characteristic beams of the old barn and very comfortable bed. All staff were very friendly from management to the cleaning staff. We had two meals at the hotel which were amazing!!!!! Breakfasts were also very nice with a selection of cereals, fruit, pastries and/or cooked breakfasts. I had scrambled egg and smoked salmon on crumpets one morning which was delicious. The whole feel of the place is a relaxing one. We shall definitely be recommending this hotel to friends and family. Well worth a visit.

Room Tip: Do book a table for dinner.

My wife and I unfortunately could not stay here for a wedding in December due to the snow. However, we were very pleased that they allowed us to stay at a later date and therefore not lose our money. This hotel is of a very high standard and the staff are excellent.

We had the 3 course meal in the restaurant. Not cheap at £32.50 each without wine, but WOW!, one of the best meals I've ever had! We were brought out an amuse bouch before our starter and a pre-desert which were both really good. I had duck followed by venison with the cheese board for desert and my wife had tomato and basil soup followed by salmon with a trio of chocolate desert. All cooked to absolute perfection. If you ate this at a michelin starred restaurand you'd be paying 3 times the price - and I bet it wouldn't be any better. All locally sourced products too! Breakfast was excellent and lovely to have it served at our table instead of those horrid buffet things which are left to dry out for ages.

As a full-time wheelchair user it can be a struggle to find a fully accessible independant hotel, but this was absolutely fine for wheelchairs. We stayed in room 9 which was ground floor - no steps at all. The bathroom might be a bit tight for larger wheelchairs, not sure if they have any other accessible rooms.

We'll be back soon!

Our stay at the Tudor Farmhouse Hotel was delightful! We had a lovely room, filled with luxurious soft touches and I felt truly relaxed by the time we departed. The location is excellent - we were able to explore so much of the area, from Symonds Yat down to Chepstow...well situated. The best part of our stay though was the food! Quiet possibly the best meal I've had for a very long time and I thought it could not be topped until I was proved wrong the second night when it was just as superior. Best cheese board by far! Thank you to all the staff - you were most helpful.

Had an excellent time. Exquisite food delivered with great personal but not in your face professional service.

My fiancé and I stayed at the Tudor Farmhouse over New Years Eve 2010, and had an absolutely fantastic time. We wanted to do something different to the usual fight to get into pubs, and extortionate taxi fares that you normally associate with this particular night of the year, and booked to attend the Gala dinner at the Tudor Farmhouse Hotel, staying overnight in one of their luxurious rooms.

From the moment we arrived we were made so welcome, and the place just exudes quality and class, but without being pompous. The food in the Gala dinner was fantastic, and the room was so cosy and comfortable. In the end we booked to stay another night, and spent New Year's Day in the lounge drinking wine!

I'd recommend this lovely place to anyone who wants to get away from it all, and relax. The village of Clearwell is idyllic, and so peaceful.

We've since recommended it to friends who came back from a weekend there, and raved about it just as we did.

We stayed here when attending a wedding at the nearby Clearwell Castle. The hotel is perfectly situated within a 5 minute walk from the wedding venue, it's so convenient that my wife was even able to walk back to the hotel to get changed for the evening reception. There is plenty of parking available.

We stayed in one of the cheaper attic rooms in the converted barn. Although small the room was spotlessly clean and had obviously had a lick of paint over the Winter. The exposed brickwork, 'port hole' windows and skylight gave the room some added character. The bathroom again was clean and well appointed; the shower cubicle was large and the shower powerful and warm.

We had the cooked breakfast in the stylish and modern restaurant the following morning. The breakfast wasn't as generous as it could have been, but it was tasty and beautifully cooked.

The staff were friendly and efficient without going overboard, being shown to our room when checking in was a nice touch.
