“The smallest bathroom I have ever used in 20 years of travel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 13, 2013 via mobile

Mixed reviews , check in was average not friendly , it's a bit of a mis match of furniture some old some new some just not great as it was out of place , it has a lift but very small and very odd . The place was full of elderly coach travellers . The room a twin not bad but if I say the bathroom was small ...... To use the loo you had to hold your arms up high and rest on the towel rail , the ink was hidden behind the door and the space to small to brush your teeth in as no room for your elbow , the shower good power but major attack of the shower curtain due to space you have to stand sideways just too shower . On check out I mentioned it in jest but the receptionist didn't even look up . My advice stay in the Parkinn.

Dear Mikala,

Thank you so much for taking a time to write to us. We are so pleased to hear that you had an enjoyable stay at the hotel. Room 204 is under the refurbishment program at the moment so it is going to be even more better with a newly refurbished bathroom and a spa bath.

Kind Regards

Samanta Liugiene

Checking in was confusing the receptionist continued chatting
to a colleague in what I believe was Polish while giving us the law down of room location breakfast etc. The lift took some figuring out maybe instructions where given but we didn't understand, the lengthy corridors gave the impression of
a run down NHS hospital. The room was tiny but adequate for what we where paying. Breakfast was a pleasant surprise after reading a previous review plenty of everything and well cooked. On the down side I came across many incidents of the staff smoking, s night porter stood on steps outside greeted us on return in the evening of our stay with s cigarette in his mouth also after breakfast yhe view from our room overlooked a small yard where the staff where gathering to smoke, I personally find this off putting this hotel could be so much better.

the area of westcliff is very pretty, and the exterior and foyer of this hotel are quite impressive, unfortunately i feel the room didn't live up to expectations. it was a little shabby and could have been cleaner i thought, especially for the price. we did, however, have a seaview and it was quiet at night.

Really pretty hotel and lovely room at first glance, but had a lot of really severe problems.

The windows didn't lock very securely and were just near my three year old son's bed, it would have been easy for him to fall out of the window.

The carpet was dirty and on looking behind a curtain found the window to be filthy with large spiders nesting.

There was an exposed nail on the floor in the bathroom, I almost ripped my jeans.

The shower wouldn't work, we therefore we didn't get to wash except in the sink and then found that the hairdryer was smoking and fizzing with burning smells when we used it.

To add insult to injury there was no pen provided for the comment card, did they do this on purpose?

We told the receptionist on checkout, they didn't seem to care that we'd paid £80 for us and our child to have a horrible stay. They only asked which room it was and didn't apologise.

Awful, awful, awful

We were booked in for two weeks. When we got to our room it soon became apparent that due to my disability I would not be able to use either the toilet or shower in the room. We asked for change and was told there was nothing available until the next day. The next day arrived and again there was no swap available. We were told the issue was that we were long stay visitors. We said we didnt mind swapping a few times over the 2 weeks as long as it meant I could have a wash and use the toilet. Again norhing was forthcoming. On the third day another kind member of our party heard of our plight and offered to swap rooms with us. After pushing reception they helped my wife move our possessions. There were no issues for the remainder of the stay. Great breakfast. Majority of the staff very friendly and helpful. The manager could try to smile once in a while. The bar was very expensive. If you are in any way claustrophobic you will not be able to use the lift. The rooms were clean and usable and housekeeping staff very efficient.
