“Excellent cuisine”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 8, 2013

Recently went with members of our family, (six in total), for a birthday meal. The service was excellent and very friendly. Since the food all seemed to be cooked to order,so there was a fair gap between courses, but this was unimportant to us as we were out for the evening. The food, mainly Mediterranean, was superb and the menu variety excellent. Prices were average to moderately expensive but very good value. Decor was attractive and we look forward to checking out the rear outside eating area when the weather allows. Will definitely return to this charming restaurant.

“Fantastic!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 3, 2013 via mobile

I had a fantastic meal at The Lemon Tree last night. Staff were brilliant very friendly and attentive without overdoing it. Our waiter was very helpful making recommendations for our food choices. Food and wine were fantastic too. Best steak I've had in a long time. Did not feel rushed at all and had a lovely long leisurely meal despite the restaurant being full. Will be recommending to all my friends and will definitely be back. Loved it!

“What to Choose, IS the QUESTION!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 3, 2013

Visited in laws and they raved about this restaurant was not to sure as they had the pizza... i know i can eat pizza anywhere and was not very enthused... but we went on Sat and the menu was huge, had trouble deciding WHAT to have. We had starters, Mozzarela and Tomato salad, scallops and cheese in white wine sauce and garlic bread, FANTASTIC. Next we had the special Salt Beef Salad with mustard dressing, escolope of veal with cheese and the most wonderful lamb cooked casserole style, that melted in your mouth. Potato's, carrots with parsnips. It was an excellent meal with a bottle of house white. Great fresh, hot food at a decent price.Very attentive service although the restaurant was very busy. Cannot wait to visit Southend on Sea again.

“Disappointing Valentines Night”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed February 15, 2013

We went here having read rave reviews on Tripadvisor. They are not justified. We got a very poor seat near the door and where people came in queing. We dont like sitting in drafts or bums in your face when we are eating.

We expected the place to be full of randy young men with their Essex girls. Instead it was mainly old blokes with equally ancient partners.Perhaps that is an indication of the times we are in. Mrs.Jomira was the best looking girl there, as usual.

The food was OK and just about reasonable value. It sells itself as a Meditteranean restaurant whatever that might mean and I suspect this place is much better on non valentines nights and hopefully less crowded. The staff were very attentive in fact over attentive and there was one wonderful old Italian guy who might well have been the owner.

There is a service charge stuck on your bill. Always a bad sign. All in all an uninspiring experience.
