“A trip back in history only a couple miles from I-75”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 22, 2012

Sharonville Ohio has many, many hotels and motels of all sizes and types, but an amazing historical haven is less than five minutes from this hyper-busy stretch of expressway. You will feel like you stepped back in time 150 years ago! Instead of the constant rush of expressway traffic noise, you will be hearing sounds from the railroad.

Glendale Ohio is a tiny town, built around the railroad depot in one of the nation's first planned communities. This community is so historically significant, that it is listed as a National Historic Landmark Community. You will see things like real gas lamps and stone gutters here. The Glendalia Boutique Hotel is the ONLY place to stay in this quaint community.

This place is so secret (ok, not anymore... because you are reading these reviews), there is NO sign of any kind showing the existance of this place. The best way to arrange a stay is through the hotel's website.

The rooms are very spacious, and all (I believe) are on the second floor with no elevator. My wife and I stayed in the McLaren suite. This suite features a KING size bed with memory-foam mattress that is super comfortable. The bathroom is spacious with a huge shower (walk-in with no door). A small kitchenette with a full size refrigerator is included in this suite. You can feel the age of the building from the sloping floor in the kitchenette.

I enjoyed hearing, and watching the trains go by. They come through fairly frequently (about one every hour or two). If you are a "trainspotter", or "rail-fan", put this place on your "bucket-list" of places to stay.

Other than the trains, this place was VERY peaceful... no noise from the other rooms could be heard. The town has a strict ordinance that bans any car-stereo noise, and is posted in several places around the town.

The people that work in this town are extremely hospitable. We visited while the owner was out of town and arranged to have the room keys left for us at the spa downstairs. The people from the Depot museum are wonderful and went out of their way to provide us help when there was a glitch in the key delivery. Many thanks and kudos.

This was one of the best hotel stays I've ever enjoyed.

“Perfect for us, but not for everyone”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 29, 2012

Lovely, historic property in quaint village. We stayed in the bridal suite for our wedding weekend. Lots of space and light, great shower with heated towel bar. Bedroom was a bit colder than the rest of the suite—looks to be a porch area that they enclosed at some point. Very minimal breakfast supplied—cereal, two apples and bananas, and a couple juices. Less than we expected but not a big deal, as we just went to the fabulous Bluebird Bakery nearby. It took us a night to get used to the trains on the very active track adjacent to the property—hotel supplied ear plugs, but they didn’t seem to make much difference. Since it was a hectic weekend, we didn’t plan to sleep much anyway, but if you’re a sensitive sleeper looking for lots of rest, you might want to book elsewhere. We greatly appreciated the fact that the room was super clean and pet-friendly, and we would stay again for these reasons alone.

“surprised and so pleased”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 9, 2011

We arrived in Cincinnati (Glendale) and asked at the Bluebird Bakery if there was a hotel nearby and they suggested the Glendalia. The manager was friendly, immediately offered to show us the rooms available and helped with our suitcases. Our "room" was actually a beautiful one bedroom apartment overlooking the village square with a full kitchen, large living room and Tempurpedic bed. It was a haven and we'll return-definitely. It's a secret--only small lettering in the corner of the window of the storefront office-which adds to its charm and personal, very private atmosphere.

“Amazing hotel in an amazing neighborhood!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 13, 2011

Partook in this year's Glendale Beer, Wine and Food Fest and decided to stay at the Glendalia for the first time. This place is AMAZING! The suites are huge, the kitchens are stunning (can you say full gas range?!?!), washer and dryer in the unit, and everything was SUPER clean. The bathroom was recently renovated and is absolutely beautiful. I stay at small hotels frequently and this one is definitely at the top of my list. And if you've never been to Glendale, please take time to walk/run/drive the neighborhood - the historic homes will knock your socks off.

Room Tip: We stayed in the 'Bridal Suite' I believe - and there was only one other room in the buildin...
