Description: The Duke of Wellington is a busy pub in the heart of Hatfield Peverel. It is just 7 miles outside Chelmsford, and the perfect place for anything from a light lunch to a three course dinner. We have an exstensive wine menu with a range of world wines, and a cask marque for our real ale. Recently rated 4star by the food assosiation and environmental health.

“Gluten Free!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 29, 2013

My friend and I visted yesterday for lunch, she has to eat gluten free and we were pleased to find that the menu offered GF bread for the sandwiches - we were impressed! At least she had a choice .....instead of the usual jacket potato. She thoroughly enjoyed her chicken and bacon sandwich, I had a fish goujon sandwich served with tartare sauce, both served with side salad. The service was good, the waitress took the time to enquire whether the mayonnaise would be OK for my friend - the staff appear to be very 'allergy aware'... Great!
It was busy as it is obviously popular because it offers very good meal deal prices, we had a little wait, but not long and the food was obviously freshly prepared. The staff were friendly too! We need more places like this......we'll go back again!

“Just off the A12”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 4, 2013

This is a handy pub restaurant offering a good menu and with a relaxing ambiance. It's convenient to stopping off if you are traveling on the A12 as it is just near the slip road so you don't have to waste time going into a town or village.
The food is very good and the service is friendly and polite, but unfortunately you can wait for a long time to be served if you go in a large group, even if you book in advance.
There are several little eating areas which make for a good atmosphere and I would recommend it if you are in a small group or just a couple of diners.
