“Family Visit”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 20, 2013

We stayed here for 2 nights and what a gem of a place. The rooms were in a renovated stable block and each had its own lockable outer door. The rooms were clean and fresh and the beds were soooooo comfortable. The bathroom was modern and the shower was very powerful. We took along our small dog and she was also made to feel very welcome. Breakfast was good with a varied choice. The location was great, a real back to nature feel. Liz and David [ yes first name terms added to the relaxed feel] were pleasant and eager to please. We will stay again definitely.

We stayed here for two nights during a friends wedding and it was a great find. As others have said a decent size room with comfy bed and a great shower. Breakfast was superb - the best poached eggs I've had anywhere ! Hosts are warm and welcoming and a host of farm animals add to the charm. We would definitely stay here again if in the area.

Stayed Friday and Saturday night, we could not have been made more welcome. Lovely clean, comfortable and bright rooms with a great cooked breakfast. We went into Dunmow each evening for food ate at the Balti on Friday, Indo China Saturday both good food at a reasonable price. We planned to ride the Flitch Way on Sunday a disused railway track only a few hundred yards from the property, the owners kindly let us leave our until our return in the afternoon.

If anyone deserves success it's the owners of Blatches Farm. They are kind, considerate and friendly, running a quaint B & B.

I'm a dyed-in-the-wool 4*/5* man (Hilton Honours/Novotel/Priority. etc;) but this was a terrific find, in a nice rural setting. The rooms were well appointed and clean, the breakfast first-rate. I'm very noise sensitive to others noise in hotels, but the owner here kindly gave me an end room (number 8) and even blocked out the next room so I would rest well. How kind was that!

I would like to thank these lovely people for looking after me so well, and of course I'll be back!

Room Tip: Just ask and they'll do their very best for you.

Very relaxing night at this family run farm. Close to Great Dunmow which is a lovely historic market town with thatched roofs and merchant houses. We ate at an Indian restaurant recommended by the farm, top stuff!

They serve one of the best breakfast selections I've ever seen in the UK! A good start to keep me going through airports etc. Their friendly dog and farm cats come and say hi when you walk to the breakfast room too. A real homely experience.

Rooms had big, comfy beds and nice, hot showers. Good touch with cappuccino and biscottis in the room too!

My tip for parking is one of the highly rated non-official airport locations. Just do a search as taxis can be expensive.

We were invited to a wedding in Billericay and having had a bad experience with a Premier Inn, we decided to look for something a bit less 'chainy'. This place is a little gem! They had our room ready for us at 10:30am, even though they were still on breakfast service when we arrived. The room was absolutely spotless, beautifully finished and well equipped, and the bed was huge!!!! We had a comfortable nights sleep and woke to a fabulous breakfast, with sausages made from their own piggies and a lovely friendly service! I cannot believe it was the price they charged. If we need to be in that area again, I would book it in a shot! Just fantastic!

Used this place as attending a wedding nearby. The welcome couldn't have been more friendly. All the rooms are in a nicely converted barn across from the main farmhouse. The rooms are spacious and clean. Breakfast was very good and tasty. Overall fantastic value for money.
