“Lovely hidden gem”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 17, 2013

We wanted a trip out to meet friends and to take the kids for a lunch and wanted a change from our usual haunts. We were pleasantly surprised at the lovely quaint and quirky pub. It has a lovely atmosphere inside, good friendly staff and welcoming atmosphere. As a local it was nice to be in a different pub that was traditional in all aspects, wholesome honest food, fresh and good prices with a great selection of ales. It lives up to it's reputation.

They only accept cash there so make sure you take some otherwise your stuck! The car park is spacious however as this is a popular the pub gets filled up quickly so go early. If you are going on a Sunday, especially on a cold day make sure you book a table as there's limited sitting inside.
Only down side I'd say is that there were so many wasps around due to the fruit trees and attractive grub so if you're outside be prepared for a lot of shoowing them off.

“Brilliant pub”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 8, 2013 via mobile

Fantastic value in quirky pub with odd opening times and strange staff, I eat here about once a month, great fish & chips, I don't think there's a pub that does a better meal for £10.

“Reply to "Disgusted" review”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 19, 2013

I was at the pub on the day in question and have to say that my version of events is quite different to the complainant's. Have been using this pub for sunday lunch for several years and have never had any reason to complain, either with the service or the food - both excellent. A large comprehensive menu covering roasts, home made pies and puddings etc. and desserts to die for. Yes, you have to order at the bar but it is easy to work out why - this is an old pub, usually packed and at the bar is the only sensible way of ordering. Pretty obvious how good it is - you won't get a table unless you book ahead. Highly recommended.

“Home cooked”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 26, 2013

Lovely old world pub in the middle of nowhere serving excellent home cooked food. Portions are generous and the pub is atmospheric and I should imagine very cosy in winter. Very popular for a weekday lunchtime which is recommendation in itself.
