“Staff were rude and obnoxious. Toilets in entertainment area foul.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 24, 2011

I paid for a 2 bed gold caravan. Just me and my 3yr old son travelling but wanted 'gold' for early check in, DVD, heating etc. Caravan itself was lovely- when we got in (they hadn't cleaned it! And when they had it was gone 4pm and carpet was soaked) I was refused recompense on this matter! Staff at reception and catering establishments and shop rude. Only nice people were kiddieclub guys who were fantastic! Both pools v cold but big. Playpark stuck in one corner with massive fence around it, for safety wouldn't let any kids alone in there as you cant see who could be lurking. Bird poo and dead leaves on slides . Entertainment, bar, choice of food good. Toilets on site shoddy- no locks on doors, broken or no doors, broken toilet and seats. We travelled alot and only used it really as a base except for a few days so not the end of the world. I could cope with things falling apart and the odd smelly loo but I abhor rude staff and 'cant be bothered' attitude. My son loved the arcade- games, lights, jingly music and of course the kiddieclub. Seemed safe, park green clean. lots of parking.

We were very sorry to read your comments, particularly those regarding the attitude of our staff. Since your holiday last year the management has been changed and refurbishment has taken place throughout the Park. The trees around the adventure playground have been cut in order to help reduce the amount of leaves and bird mess and it is now checked twice daily.

After staying a week in Valley farm I found the campsite very clean quiet and relaxing. I have been to this site before in the early to mid 90’s and from visiting again I can defiantly see the improvements they have made mainly to the clubhouse area.

We went for the lodge accommodation (think two very large caravans stuck together along one side) and was toughly impressed! The accommodation had 2 en-suite bathrooms one with a full size bath and the other with a smallish shower and 2 double bedrooms. The front room also had a large kitchen area with double oven, separate fridge and freezer, built in microwave and a central island counter. The unit also has central heating and an electric fire in the front area so along with the floor to ceiling windows at the front meant it was always nice and warm.

The lodges seem to be on a new part of the grounds (called stream view) which is well landscaped and only a few minutes walk from the main entertainment area and as the name suggests has a small stream (more of a brook) running along the front.

The old clubhouse has been completely remodelled and now looks like it belongs in 2011 with modern furnishings and the pub restaurant at the front. The meals there are good quality with quick service and not unreasonably priced.

We tried to get something to take away from the chip shop but was left standing there for 10 minuets with no one to serve us so gave up. I think they would be better getting rid of the chip shop as it looks tired and there are better ones a short drive away along kings parade.

The staff were friendly and helpful. We had an issue with hot water but after reporting it the maintenance staff had it sorted in 5 minutes.

If you have been to the park a while ago I think it’s worth a revisit as it seems much better then it was before. I would defiantly recommend the lodges as I think anyone would have problems finding faults with them for the price paid. The unit we said in was a ‘monaco duo’ by Cosalt (have a look on google).

There are some minor things that would have made the holiday better that we would get from our normal holiday destinations like centreparcs (free wi/fi, more shops, activity’s, digital tv) but if you just want to use the ground as a base and go out each day then its fine for the price.

Tip : there is a retail park just off the A133 (5 min drive from the camp) which has a large Tesco (with petrol station), Currys and B&Q

Room Tip: the lodges are well worth the money

2 of 5 stars Reviewed October 29, 2010

I went with my disabled husband for 3 niths in September and we experienced many problems with the adapted caravan and the facilities on site. I have listed then below:
1. Toilet seat came off on our 2nd day. We reported this and the maintenance person temporary repaired this, but said he had to order another seat as it was a disabled one and did not have this in stock.
2. Shower room – disabled shower. Every time someone had a shower, the water comes out from under the shower door and floods the toilet area. We had to use our own towel to put on the floor to wipe the water as there was no mop and my husband is disabled-who can slip and injure himself.
3. When we checked in one of the bedrooms light bulbs was not working. We had to report this to security on the first night, who came straight away to change this.
4. The bathroom/toilet door was very stiff and did not close (sliding doors). We also reported this on the first night. We had the same problem with the bedroom door, but only reported the bathroom door as we did not notice the bedroom door, until late that night. Maintenance had to be called again, but as no one was available, security assisted us.
5. On their website they advertised an ice cream kiosk and a sauna, which attracted us to your resort. When we arrived there the ice cream kiosk was closed for 2 days. We used the swimming pool, but found the children’s pool and sauna closed. This was false advertising and if these facilities are not available, this should be mentioned on their part resorts website.
6. Fish & Chip shop on site. The quality of this chips we bought was poor. We ordered a portion of chips after 9.00pm and the chips was cold. In London when a customer orders a portion of chips anywhere, it is on a made to order basis.
7. The silver piece of ramp on the floor (entrance to the caravan), was very slippery when it rained. This should have been on the same level as the ground and not on the grass by the edge of the kerb. If someone was a wheelchair user, it would have been impossible for them to get the wheelchair from the kerb onto the ramp.
Overall the caravan was very clean.
